Default Problem (E 00) with my factory CD player.

I keep getting the code "E 00" whenever I insert a CD into the factory deck on my 2000 Civic. I looked it up in the manual and it says it's a system/FOCUS error and advises me to clean the disc. The CDs are fine. I've tried several that work well in another stereo, but I keep getting the "E 00" code and the deck spits out the CD.

What's up with this?

focus error means the laser is not making its complete path to and from the disc. If the cd is clean then the player is at fault. They can be dirty, out of alignment, or just plain broken. Any of these problems equals you getting the radio serviced. Before you do this, check the price and then check the price of an aftermarket. You will like the aftermarket alot better (unless you buy cheap crap) and it will cost about the same amount.

I was afraid of that. But I was also going to upgrade it to an aftermarket. . .just didn't think it'd be so soon.

The factory deck has a theft deterrent that disables it after it's disconnected from the power supply. Will this be an issue when I change out the deck for an aftermarket one?

Thanks.

It'll be a problem only if you try to reconnect it and don't have the code... Any aftermarket deck will work.. By the way... Best Buy has free install labor this week until tomorrow. You'll just need a wiring harness and dash kit, for a total of $33, the $47 install charge is waived this week.
