Default Problem with AU94TM

Hey guys,
I just installed a viper alarm with this au94tm. The outer proximity range seems to be working fine, but the inner range refuses to trip unless I hold the sensor in my hand. Currently I have it sitting out under the e-brake with the center console out and even with the sensitivity turned all the way up it won't trip without the situation mentioned above. Is it possible that I got a defective one?

If adjusting it changes the outside zone but has no effect on the inside zone then it is either a defective sensor or it is a wiring issue. 94

wrx: its not covered up and theres no interior in the car. Just sitting on top of the carpet

fcm: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...

Do you guys see a lot of these bad out of the box?

I have seen maybe 1 or 2, [out of 100s]that were bad, in most cases it is a wiring issue.
So the question is how is it wired to the alarm?
What is the make and model of the alarm? 94

Alarm = Viper 1002
Wired to the option port

I dont think its a wiring issue, heres my logic:

Sensor turns on, so power and ground are good.
when the red and green lights come on, the alarm does trigger
Green light comes on and I see changes in sensitivity when I adjust it.
Red light does come on, but does not change with adjustment.

What do you think?
