If not, remove the face plate, to the left, close to the rotary **** there is a very small hole, using something that will fit, push the reset button that is at the back of this hole, hold it for 5 to 10 sec., using a good quality lens cleaner, see if it will accept the lens cleaner, follow directions for the lens cleaner, [if it is accepted] then try CDs and DVDs.
If rebooting and cleaning does not work, do NOT try and repair the unit yourself, do not even open it up to look, remove HU and tuner box, and take it to your local Alpine authorized repair shop, you can find it at http://www.alpine.com click on "Contact Us" at Support or check at your local Alpine dealer, also found alpine.com Dealer Locator at

ok i tried to rebooting it and cleaning it but nothing happened. when i stick the cd in it tries to load but instead of pulling the cd inside the head unit it just rotates it in a counterclockwise direction really slow. its so weird. if i push the cd in while its spinning it will go in but it will show "loading error" it will eject and if i push the eject button again it will load it, but the "loading error" still appears. what do you think??? I've never seen this before and I've installed a few head units. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is a problem in the CD transport, [ do you have kids or know of any kids that may have shoved something in there] I have re&reed and opened more then a few CD/cass players with loading problems to find all matter of things jamming up the works, change being the most common, but I have found all sorts of things from candy to even CDs , if the unit is no longer under warranty, remove it from the dash and "open it up" see if you can find anything in there, a power supply, [batt.] to hook the unit up to so you can flip out the screen, [to get it out of the way] will help, it will also help you to maybe see what is "jambing" the disk, DO NOT under any circumstance FORCE anything, if you can't find anything obvious, you will have to take the unit to an Alpine warranty depot, [even if its not under warranty] do not take it to "Big Al's repair shop.
