I've been wanting to install power locks into my 2000 hatch. I've been debating on doing it myself with no electrical/wiring experience, or having a shop do it.
Does anyone have any Idea how much it would cost to have power locks installed at a shop? Whether or not I have the parts to do it too. Just throwing this out there.

Yeah, I need to look at some more writeups and see if I think I can do it. Do you know of any offhand? I searched and found one for an eg, but it wasnt that great.

So i'm looking at 100-150 for a shop to install power locks? Because I'm looking to have an alarm installed as well.

Are there any Shop chains that do power lock installs? I live in Phoenix so if there is a chain shop it'd be here. If not I'll look up a local one.

Just about any shop that does car alarms also does door locks.
We charge 1hr per door for actuators and 1hr for the alarm interface @ $40per hr. CDN parts will cost you $5-$25 for basic aftermarket door lock actuators, you will also need 2 SPDT relays, [if the alarm does not have them built in] $3-$10 each.
For about $50 you can get an Audiovox 2 door central locking system, [5 wire actuators] any alarm can be connected to it, although getting 5 wires from the doors into the car may be an issue in a 2000 Civic, [I assume it is a Civic] the advantage of a central locking system is locking/unlocking either door with key or mechanical switch will lock/unlock the other door.

I should have said late model Honda/Acura, the problem is the door harness comes out of door and is "plugged into the cars harness at the "A" pillar, it uses a multipin plug, if your car does not have power anything, [locks windows] the wiring is not run, so you have "empty" pin locations in the plugs, not sure if there are enough "empty" spots to run 5 wires, not to say it can't be done, just that it may be problematic, it's a pain just to run 2 leads.

No it should not be more expensive labour wise, Around $50 CDN for a central door locking kit is the least I would want to pay. [assuming I'm buying from an authorized retail dealer] any less and it's a hell of a deal or it's junk, I have seen them for as little as $9.95, you can easily spend $350 for a real good one
Labour should be the same as for installing two "2 wire" actuators and a pair of relays and connecting it to an alarm, it's really not any more work for a pro, the extra work for the extra actuator wires is balanced by not having to wire up a polarity rev. relay "pack", all you do is connect power and ground, [central locking module] and plug the alarms door lock outputs into the module, the rest of the wiring is "plug and play", [for central locking system].
