power hx2 and directed d2400, something wrong?
ok so i have a 12 inch rockford power hx2 with a directed d2400w amp. its 2ohm dvc and i wired it to run 1ohm, which the amp can handle and should be 1200wrms. i made a 3.5 cu. ft ported and tuned to 35hz. anddd it just doesnt sound right. ive been adjusting the amp and everything i can think of but i just feel it should be a hell of alot louder than it is. i used to have a 15 inch punch hx2 w/ a directed d600 and a ported box it was tons louder. also the headunit i have in right now is an ancient piece of ****, would it matter that much? i dont know im tired and confused. any help would be great thanks.
ok i actually just went out and remeasured my box, i forgot i had messed up when i made it. its actually 3.95 or 4 cu.ft. which with the length of my port is tuned to about 31 or 32hz which i know is too low for my 12. the thing is i really dont know what size to make the box, rockford is very vague and says 1.75-4ft so, where is best, in the middle somewhere? who knows.
and what size port would be best, i always use pvc pipe for my simple ports. i used 4 inch on this box which is like 5 inches long. somebody shed some light, im going nuts!

The first thing I would check is the VC wiring, make sure they are in phase.
What is the exact model number of the sub, [how old is it] I can not find a DVC 2 ohm HX2 sub.
When building vented boxes it is very important the box and vent, [port] volume is correct, with a sealed box 10% +/- will not make a noticeable differance. However, a 10% diff. in box or vent volume in a vented box can make a huge diff.
Does the subs cone move a lot?
Is there a lot of air movement in the port?
Is the problem just low output or does it not sound right either?

well the hx2s are discontinued, but i adjusted the amp a little more and it sounds better, im thinking that when i put my new headunit in it will sound alot better also. but as for the enclosure i have no idea how big i should make it, i dont want to spend the time making a new one and not be correct size. since the one now is 4 cu ft. im thinking about going down to 3ft. i was aiming for 3.5 originally but i dont know which will be best. and i cant find anybody that knows about the power hx2's or has used them in custom boxes and vented set ups. o and im looking for another hx2 and another amp and run 2
Here are the T/S #... http://www.rockfordfosgate.com...46949
Here is the manual... http://www.rockfordfosgate.com...N.pdf
Recommended vented box is 2 cuft, at 4 cuft your way too big

you think 2 is going to be big enough? just doesnt seem like it. i remember my 15 recommended size was 3.5. do you think i should tune higher than 35 or should it be fine at 35?
I would go with what is recommended, it has been tested and it works.
Box volume is dependent on the subs T/S parameters, not the size of the speaker.
Alpine had a sub that box volume was about the same as the cardboard box the sub came in, [sealed box] it was tiny.
