Default In plain and simple terms...

I have a 1000 watt Sony explode amp powering my 2 Sony explode subs (12''). I'm getting rid of the two subs and using the amp to power my components...what I want to know in plain and simple terms is...

What amp and subwoofer combo thuds the hardest. I'm talking about that ignorant, ghetto, wake everbody up at 1 oclock in the morning bass. I'm not worried about $$ I just want some subs that hit really really hard. Lol please excuse my idiocy, i just figure you guys would know about this stuff the best.. ::crosses finger for a response from Vteg::

No offense, but you have asked a question that is practically impossible to answer...it's too vague.

It's like asking what's the best car out there and I'm not worried about money....then I recommend an Enzo and you get pissed b/c brake jobs are 30k in parts, and oil changes are over 700 each. And then you tell me that you have a family, three kids and like to go skiing!!

More info PLEASE!!!

define a budget...at least a range
what kind of trunk space are you willing to give up?
are you willing to upgrade your alternator?
First you don't want it too loud, but you want it to hit hard?!?!?

What have you heard in your friend's cars that you like....you need to give us a baseline....i.e. what did you think of those Xplods that you had? too loud, not loud enough....

If you want help, you gotta help us....

Lol oops my bad..well hmmm I have a Civic Sedan, truck space is not an issue, i'm willing to sacrifice my whole trunk. I'm looking for something that hits hard without really having to worry about anything besides the battery and getting cap. Price? Hmmm I'm not willing to spend more than 500$ for an amp, and 800$ for subs boxed.

Loud is good, i like bass..alot. I thought Xplods were good but I want more bass cause i've heard subs hitting harder but i wasnt too sure of what they had.

I left it vague cause I wanted different opinions and try to put something together.

Hmm. Wake up a small city, you want?

How do you like your bass? Ported and deep? Sealed? I think the biggest you can get through the trunk of a civic is probably 4 cubes or so, without building a box inside the trunk. This is just a guess. I don't own a civic, and have not tried to see what I could shove through the trunk door.

At this size you can get a pair of 12's in common chamber ported, or maybe a pair of small box 15's. One ported 15 may suit you also.

I have to run now. I'll add more later.

You can get the JLW7 10 in the H.O. enclosure for about 750us. You can get a BD500 for about 400us. You will hit harder than most people with 12's and 15's guaranteed.

One RE 15xxx in a simple sealed box with 500 watts is very loud. Ported with proper power it would be insane

I built a ported enclosure for Evol on this board that was 1.7 after sub displacement tuned to about 30. It hit very deep, and is pretty loud. But cone area wins in this case, plus the xxx has lots of excursion also.

So in a nutshell, "Go BIG or go home."

PS what are the specs on JL's HO box anyway?
