Panasonic Headunit cutting out...
Hey guys,
I have this headunit for about 5 years now and its been working great until recently. Everytime I start the car it displays ADJUST and all the setting I had in there (bass, treble, etc) are reset. I have to eject the cd and re-insert and it will load and play...but only for a short amount of time, and it can vary from 30 seconds to 20 minutes, then it will shut off completely and turn back on intermittently or sometimes not at all, and when it does come on the settings are reset again
. This is really a pain in the ***. Do I need to just get a new cd player? Here are somethings I've tried:
Lens Cleaner *FAIL*
Checking all the wires, they look ok don't know much about wiring
Checked battery connections, they're on tight
BTW, this doesn't happen when I'm in AM/FM mode
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, I would've bought another head unit by now but I don't want to run into the same problem with the new one. Thanks!

what amp is that fuse? ive looked in that fuse box and havent seen one that is clearly labeled for the radio, sorry for my n00bness
*update*
finally got around to trying to investigate the problem, i dont have the equipment with me to test the fuse but i went ahead and bought some new fuses, replaced both the 7.5A one under the hood as well as the 10A one under the dash...same problem
any other suggestions?

Fuses don't cause problems like this. A bad connection could. This makes sense because the cd player takes more power than the fm radio. And if a connection was loose or able to ground out it might cause this and still not blow a fuse.
Test:
1. You need a meter.
2. Remove radio.
3. Connect leads to radio +red and -black.
4. Run cd.
5. If power cuts or dips a lot to the meter when the problem occurs then you have a broken wire or a wire grounding out.
6. The tough part locate wire.
If that is not the case then you player is malfunctioning. If you have been playing the radio loud and do not have an external amp this could have damaged your player over time.
If you don't have a meter, this is a test THAT COULD BLOW THE PLAYER: Run a positive wire from battery and negative with good ground to the player. Run cd. If it works you got bad wiring. gl
