Need some help on a deck install...
Okay, this is an install of a new Pioneer cd deck into a 97 Jeep Wrangler.
The car had a Jenson deck previously installed. I'm replacing the Jenson deck with the Pioneer. This is my first Wrangler. For those of you not familiar, there is only one set of speakers in the car. The wiring harness from the Jeep was cut off and the wires from the Jenson harness were spliced together with the ones from the Jeep. The wires coming out of the Jeep were the Current, ACC, Ground, and front speakers. There were a lot of left over wires on the Jenson harness that were capped off, I'm pretty sure these are for more speakers (green, purple wires ). So I cut the jenson harness off, and wire up the coresponding wires from the Pioneer harness. Everything found it's place except for the left over speaker wires, the Mute wire, the Illumination wire, and the power antannae wire. I capped these off and reassembled the dash. Everything was good to go, I turn on the car, and the deck doesn't work. I am an amateur, so I called my buddy who is a pro and told him the situation. He said as long as the ACC, the current power and the ground wire are connected, the deck should be working. Even if the speakers aren't and you can't hear anything, the deck will be on. He said that if it wasn't, it was probably a blown fuse. I don't know too much concerning fuses and such, so I just replaced the radio fuse with the spare and checked. It didnt work. I was lost so I agreed to have my friend look at it tommorow and call it a day. So I disconnect everything, cap all the wires coming from the Jeep so nothing shorts out, and reassemble.
I'm sure my friend will be able to figure it out tommorow, but I would like to know what I did wrong. Sorry if this is kind of long, but I'm really confused. Thanks for your help in advance.
