Default Need help please : DEI 451M Door lock module

I just got an Viper 500ESp installed, I didn't want to pay 50.00 extra for the power door lock actuator connection. I already installed the actuator and I have the 451M door lock module.

My question is do I still need relays? I am installing it on my 00Civic HB. Can somebody shed some light on this for me please

Thanks

unless i'm mistaken you dont even need the module. if you have power locks its like -lock -unlock. i never used modules when hooking keyless into civics.

The 451m module are just that... door lock relays in micro size.
To add power door accuators are simple. The mini plug goes into the 5 hundos
door lock plug ( dont worry its labled). That leaves 5 wires left.
They are wired as such:

purple - 12 volts...this has a 15 amp fuse.
green - door lock output connect to accuator
blue - door unlock output connect to accuator
white/black and brown/black - normally open side of relays
connect to chassis ground.

Now go play nice.....

Most alarms have transistorized outputs ( + or - ) to interface with existing power door locks in vehicles with no need for extra modules or relays.

If you are adding door lock acuators to a car that didnt come with power door locks, you will need door lock relays or that DEI 451 can be used.

Some vehicles that have reversing polarity door locks or multi-plexed door lock circuits will need extra relays and modules to interface also.

For a Civic with factory power door locks, you just need negative outputs from your alarm.

I am still confused on how to hook up the wires on the 451M

Can some tell me which wires go where?

TIA

Just wire up that 451M door lock relay back the way AudioRoach stated. If your door lock acuators move in the opposite direction intended when you arm or disarm........then just switch the 2 leads coming from your door lock motors to the 451M ( which are the leads that go to the Blue and Green)

I personally prefer 5-wire (central door locking) actuators when adding door locks to vehicles without them. That way when you use the key from the outside, you also can trigger it. The door locking system will seem more "integrated" to the car when using your key instead of having to overcome the resistance of "untriggered" actuators. Plus, the 5-wire kits usually come with a central door lock module that you can just interface your alarms output to.

If this is confusing you more, than ignore my last paragraph. If you are new to wiring stuff like this.......that DEI 451m module will make it easier for you than using 2 Bosch relays and making your own door lock relay set.

The 451 should come with a green/blue and....red i wire with a 3 pin plug, which plugs into the DEI brains, replacing the wire that is normally installed for a factory actuated system, which is a green and blue colored system only. Its actually a 3 pin plug, and if i didnt get locks installed, theres prolly nothing in there right now. It can only fit on one of the plugs..so it should be pretty simple. The 451M is all the relays and stuff in one little box. Thats all you need. Make the connection to the alarm, and your power, ground, locks and youre good to go.

nope you only need 2 relays or the 451m relay pack.

bump for a good topic, i'm about to install my micro relay module on my 91 si hatch that i added actuators for.

my question where did you all mount your module, and 1 module can be used for 2 actuators right?

yes, you just take the lines from both acutators (each acutator will have 1 blue and 1 green), and hook them in parallel to the output wires from the DEI 451M unit.

I think he goofed up. The 451M has a total of 9 wires comming out of it... 8 if you count the purple and purple black as one since they are connected together anyhow.

5 of those wires are the Green/black, Blue/black, White/black, Brown/black, purple. Those are the heavier guage loose wires you use to actually interface with the doorlock motors or actuators. The plug I believe he is refering to has the other 3 wires. Green, Red, and Blue. The red is the +12 constant for the relays inside the 451M. The green and blue wires pluse negitive to either control the unlock (blue) or lock (green) relay inside the 451M. Some DEI brains have a spot where this plug can be connected directly without having to cut the 3 wires. If you're not using a DEI unit or the one you're using doesn't have the spot for the 451M then you'd have to cut the plug off, connect the red to a constant +12v's, and connect green to the - lock pulse on your unit, and blue to the - unlock pulse.

Hope that information helps and was what you were asking about.

i'm gonna try tomarrow and wire it up without the little plug first, if it don't work i'll wire them up too.. ahh wait, there's the 3 pin plug but then there's all so red blue and green wires along w/ the 5 others... i see so i don't need the 3 pin plug... cool... ok i'll have this wired up in no time tomarrow
