Default Need Help Choosing Speakers

I am looking for a 6x9's that has a good bass and mid high's. 300w 100 RMS

I cannot afford a Sub.

Or you can point me to some website that has speaker reviews

And how can you tell if the speaker has a good bass?

Does this companys have a good bass. Kicker, MTX, Rockford

Thanks

sounddomain.com and carreview.com has reviews.. though keep in mind, when you read reviews, the reviews will always vary because of the applications they are placed in, some people have 6x9's in 6x9 boxes, some have there speakers in factory rear decks, some have amps, some don't, from my experience of selling and installing audio, your cheaper speakers/coaxiles tend to produce sharper highs and weak lows - power acoustik/boss type of brands, when you step up and purchase nicer coaxiles you get a fuller sound - better bass response and crisp clean highs, not all distorted and twangy sounding.. i advise you to go to an audio shop, where they have a variation of 6x9's, all in the same display wall, etc, and listen to the different speakers, this is good because all of the speakers generally are on head unit power and are all in the same enviornment and the sound is not bouncing off of a glass surface as it would in a car next to your head.. i'm about to replace all the speakers in my car with new ones and i'm going with mb quart components with an amp, if you really want some bass i would recommend an amp for those 6x9's, nothing big, 200w rms is sufficient and you can turn it down if its too much, but 6x9's with an amp can supply you with a little punch if you need it..

I really don't like the sound of 6X9s at all. You should go listen to some at best buy and other places, decide what you like, then order them online. Different people have different ears.
If all you're looking for is bass, I would save some money and invest in a sub/amp combo.

i kinda prefer adapting to components with a 6x9 plate, but thats my personal thing there.. but for people who are not die hard audiophiles i don't think they will notice the differences
