Default need help with an amp.

ok so its been like ten years or so since i messed with a car stereo system. but for some reason i got the urge to do it again... anyway i picked up alpine typer r6x9 and type r 5 1/4 components both are rated up to 100 watts rms. next im going to get an amp to power them. i want a 4 channel amp i was thinking of getting one that did 100 rms a channel. i dont want under power because i dont want to get clipping. and obvisouly i dont want to over power. so my question is 1) is 100 watts rms a channel good or should it be different. 2) what is a good amp brand to look into. thanks in advance

how much can you spend? rated power is subjective to brand

a few of my top choices for the budget minded audiophile shopping on ebay now are...there are probably more, i just did a 5 minute search

http://cgi.ebay.com/Phoenix-Gold-M44...ht_1182wt_1051

old school phoenix gold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Precision-Power-...#ht_500wt_1068

this one is kind of neat since it's 6ch you could run a sub off the other two. it's also the best amp class PPI ever made

man, there is not a damn thing for affordable high quality 4ch amps on ebay right now. those two are the only ones i found in a quick search i would consider putting in my own car

the other nice part about either one of these amps is that you won't loose jack in resale.

there is a 3rd choice i suppose, there phoenix gold xenon 100.4 can be had new for the same money as these. BUT i would rather have one of the above 2 even though they are a decade old. build quality is just better. the xenon is a nice sounding amp, i just had QC issues and some of them literally died the second you fired them up. one of my cars has a pair of xenon amps and the sub amp i actually had to switch out twice before i found a good one.

if you arent going nuts with the whole project, id consider a 4 channel class d amp like alpine pdx. the run cool and efficiently so your electrical system should be enough without upgrades, and they are nice and small too.

seem to for for $385

the part i can't get over is how similar the build is to the phoenix xenon.

look at these two pics, one a sundown, the other a xenon
