Navi to DVD-player conversion?

Default Navi to DVD-player conversion?
I have an EDM Accord with navigation. The navi player seems to be an regular DVD, but cannot play films. Is it possible to re-program the head unit to work also as a movie player? Or is the only solution to hook up a RGB converter and a second DVD player?

It might be a dvd-rom only player. The pioneer avic D1 and D2 are like that.
