Default Looking for a How-To...

I know this is a pretty general question.... but I have a blown Alpine amp. Its 300/4.... or at least I think it's blown.... I know I'm supposed to smell for burning and look for burnt chips and fuses, but I would like to learn more about this so I can actually figure this out and fix it myself instead of giving into the (over-priced) audio shops around here. Does anyone know a good detailed website that can help me get all this stuff down?

Unless it's something very obvious, you might not see the problem readily. A component could have a tiny break in it without being visible. An electronics technician will use test equipment to determine the faulty component and then work to correct it. I know, I've had tons of amps that are blown and tried to find out why. Sometimes a good tech. will know the problem just by it's symptom.
