Default looking for an in-dash navigation/dvd unit

i've been looking at the pioneer avic d3, pretty much the features i want are navigation, ipod hook up (not through the auxiliary jack but where is it actually connected so that the ipod screen will show up on the in-dash) and DVD player. i don't care for bluetooth or back up cameras, or voice recognition.

do you guys have any suggestions for a in-dash that sits flush for 1000$ and below that doesn't get drained out by sunlight or takes a long time to load up when the car starts?

i did find a website, http://www.avic411.com, but i don't even know where to start between all the different kinds of indashes, avic d, avic z, avic n...etc

If you don't use the navigation that much, then the D3 is good. It's a pain waiting for the navigation DVD to load up. I prefer the Z3.

I also like the Eclipse double dins. Only thing I don't like is that I thought it would copy mp3's, but it only copies .wavs. Which is pointless.

Hate the Kenwoods. Hate the Dual/Jensen cheap crap.

My product knowledge is falling behind though. I don't know what else has come out in the last year.

Nonsense. If you use the navigation a lot, you'll hate the D3. But besides that, the D3 has more stuff built-in.

It's DVD vs hard drive. If you ever have any question about the speed difference, try copying some large files from one folder to another on your hard drive. Then try copying a large file from DVD to your hard drive.

You may wanna try out the Kenwood DNX 7100 - fits flush for double din and has a very wide screen.

Has ipod hookup with actual menu's on the deck - plays DIVX and plays iPOD video so if you can play your music videos and stuff.

I had the deck for about 6 months and no problems, and love it. Even though its now sitting in my closet after i sold my car.

here's a look at mine playing Heroes

GL finding what you looking for

yeah i second the kenwood idea. dnx512 is usually right around $1000 dnx712 is around $1400. both get from me. much better then loading a disc in the d3 and they play ipod video.
