Look at this box
Well haha what can i say i got this system for cheap and it came with wiring sub amp and box, the inside bumps really loud 20 of 35 it really hurts haha. But thats beside the point. Look at this box, this box is no good right? I mean it has holes drilled in the side plugged it with cloth cause it sounds better without the holes, but it makes this weird noise cant hear it inside but when i pop the trunk it sounds like its leaking air. SO my thing is should i get a new box? Im gonna make one and should it be square or look like the one in the pic (slanted) made to fit behind a truck seat. Thanks. Its a ts-w300r.

My goal is to get noise outside the car because when i play basketball or and other sports we use my car as a sound system (the car running of course) and u cant hear NO bass. Thanks. Outside the car there isnt bass inside a lotttt. I ahve sub level +15 on my stereo, bass -8, bal -8, and treb-8, I want to hear bass than the rap haha. Thanks dont flame me. Haha.
There really isnt much bass produced when the trunk is popped an ur right near it just inside the car its loud i dont get it is the box really cutting its potential?
Jesus... Stop being a post *****. Use the edit function and edit your posts instead of making two more useless ones...
Anyways, if that box is built to the specifications of the sub, then it's fine. However, the "ports" are improperly drilled/placed, and I'll bet that sub sounds better in a sealed enclosure anyway.
Plug those holes with wood, screwed into place of course, and sealed with silicone...
This is all if you decide to keep it. If you decide to "make a new box", please pay attention to the specifications of the sub and build it according to them, don't just arbitrarily build a box to dimensions that you "think" will work.

Here, to save you a lot of trouble, and some money( even after shipping )...buy one of these:

Or one of these
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe...0-644

Basically, you couldn't build one cheaper than you could buy these.
I could not tell you the tuning frequency of the ported box, but it is probably something generic around 40hz.
If you bought the sealed box, throw in about a pound of fiberfill( available in the craft section at Wal Mart....it is pillow stuffing ).
No, these are not specifically designed for that sub, but it looks to be the same Pioneer sold at Wally world. If I remember correctly, the box recomendations for the ten were pretty close to these boxes though.
This will save you a lot of time, and us a lot of explination

Generally ported boxes add some additional output near the tuning frequency.
Sealed boxes tend to allow for better low end response. Either can work great, and by no means am I implying Ported boxes can't play low.
However, not knowing the tuning frequency of the box, your safest bet would be to buy the sealed.
Hell, if shipping isn't too bad, buy one of each( for still possibly less than $120.00 ), and try them both out. Sell the one you decide not to use.
