I dont really know why this has turned into a little debate. I wanted to get a NEW amp that was descent quality for a good price. It was people on THIS forum that recommended us acoustics. I did research and only hear good things about them. No body saud they are better then a fosgate amp. I think its true if i wanted a better quality amp that was also NEW from a dealer i would need to spend nearly twice as much. Nothin more to it then that. Im not trying to compete with my us acoustics amp guys, i just listen to music and $130 shipped is a nice price for a new 65wx4 amp that puts out what its rated for.

Didn't mean to cuase a ruckus. Just wanted to know if anybody had Personal experience with that particular amp.

I felt like I just ran over my friends dog when I told him I would like to go with another amp. Ughh hate that.

So I caved and were going to do the install if I dont like it I reckon I can brave the disappiontment on his face and go for another amp. Will probably conceal it under the rear seat though

Just hope the thing doesn't get to hot.

BTW this guy has proven to me that he backs what he says to this point and is a very reliable guy.

If everyone all thought the same way and knew all the same stuff, we wouldn't need a forum like this. I like to read other people's opinions on this stuff. It shouldn't get personal though. Like you shouldn't insult someone with a different opinion. Sometimes Siskel needs an Ebert. hehe

After a long wait my amp finally came in today. us acoustic usx4065. I obviously havent hooked it up or anything but this thing is built like a tank! It's realitively compact and the enitre thing is made out of thick solid metal. I guess it just looks a lot higher quality then i expected. I cant wait to get it hooked up and hear how it sounds.

Fosgate amps suck. They get really hot and their quality has gone down. They were really good 2-3 years back.

I DO

i used to have an american legacy la560 (i think)... silver/brushed aluminum chassis. looked nice. claimed 500 watts. rms of 250.. something like that. it was my second amp. first was a "SHAKER" super low end flea market brand. anyways i ran this legacy in stereo (claimed 110x2 rms) on 2 jl 12w0's. it was pretty damn loud if i do say so myself. then i got sick of the huge box so i bridged it (300x1 rms) onto one 12w0. i must say i was pretty impressed. then i started reading audio boards and heard all the **** people talk on legacy and that 250 is really pushing it to a 12w0... my jl didnt seem to be working overtime so i assumed the amp was crap.

i traded it to a friend and bought a $250 60x2 concept amp with the intentions of using it for components later (but in the mean time i bridged it... 240x1 to my jl) and honestly it wasnt doing anything that the legacy was before except costing 3 times as much

so eventually i did move my concept amp onto component duty and picked up a rockford power 200a1 (birthed at 310x1 at 2 ohms) i put both my jl's back in and ran them off the rf at a 2ohm load to get full power. again i didnt feel like i was getting anything from this setup that the legacy wasnt giving me

and on a sidenote almost a year and a half later the legacy amp is still running in my friends car pushing 3 mtx 10s at a funky *** ohm load (i never checked to see how he wired it). he said it shut down from overheating a couple times in the summer but it still works just fine

so overall id say that this particular legacy amp was darn good. admittedly im not an audiophile but still i replaced the legacy with some quality equipment and didnt notice much if any change. i just kinda wish i wouldve tried it out on speakers while i still had it.

that being said i wouldnt touch any of those 2000 watt plexiglass covered legacy amps. they may well work good too but i just think they're ugly as fock.
