Default Kill Switch

I've tried searching "kill switch" already and random threads just keep popping up. And no I'm not trying to ask where should I hide my kill switch but my question is what is the most effective kill switch like where to install it?

It's not so much just one thing, it's multiple layers of security.

Default Re: Kill Switch

There are so many diff. ways to do a kill switch on a Honda/Acura.

A simple one is to install an on/off switch on any power lead or ground to the ECU/ECM, you can do the same on just about any power or ground lead, the size, [amperage and physical size] of the switch will depend on the lead it is put on, EG; a small, easly hidden, 1A switch can be used on things like PGM-FI Main Relay ground or IGP1 or IGP2 to the ECU/ECM, but it would not work on any of the 3 power leads to the PGM-FI Main Relay or power for the ECU/ECM, there you would need much bigger, [5A,10A or 15A] much harder to hide switchs.

There are also "stealth" switchs, using an existing switch in the car as a kill switch, even the cig. lighter can be used as a kill switch.

A small 1A switch along with a relay can be used on higher current leads, like starter leads or ign. leads.

With a latching relay and a 1A momentary switch you can make a "self arming" kill switch, sets itself everytime you tiurn off the ign. switch and must be reset before car an be started, you will never forget to set it.

There are other ways to do kill switchs also, but as has been mentioned, it's about layers, one kill switch is not going to keep a determined crook from getting your car, it isa however better then nothing at all. 94
