Keypad Kill switch.. Possible?
I have a question.. i dont kno if this was thought of already but ill just go ahead and ask it..
Would it be possible to put some sort of keypad in your car as a kill switch and hook the keypad to a "brain" that would verify the code and would accept it and switch to the ON position, allowing you to start the car.
And of course would remain OFF if the code is incorrect or was never entered.
Seems to be the best kill switch I can think of, and it has to be possible.. as for the difficulty.. im not sure..

Yes its possible. Wether an average person could do it thats another question.
All it would require is a clock, state machine and maybe a relay.

These have been in existance for many years.
Yes they are defeatable, but they do add an additional layer of security.
However, a well hidden kill switch will do the exact same thing for less than $5.

very nice.. exactly like that.. i was thinkin of somethin smaller but that will do. Thanks
A well hidden killswitch would do the same thing but im looking for something that you would have to push in a code/password to be able to drive the car. And still have my alarm system blaring which would make it harder to figure out the code in a few seconds.

A kill switch requires flipping the switch in order to drive the car, without the need for an electronic device with the potential for failure.
Those pads are garbage because they're easily defeated, simply by following the wiring from the keypad back to it's junction with the vehicle's factory wiring. The thief knows the keypad is there (especially since it's illuminated), so he will know immediately what the workaround will be. The key to a good security measure is stealth.

Well I have an ideal place to put it, making it easy access for me to get to but hidden in the same note.. Plus im not planning on mounting it in any common spot and I plan to put some plastic over it and kinda camoflaugh it making it even harder to find it.
