Keyless key fob range
I have a '00 keyless key fob range that has recently been replaced with a fresh battery but the range is still suffering. I will be standing next to the car and it will still have trouble recognizing my button presses; the led light on the fob itself seems to light up without any problems when buttons are pressed.
Does anyone have any solutions? Is it possible to extend the receiver unit's range by adding a wire as an antenna?

Might be able to do something like this on CRVs
Remote Keychain not so remote. How to fix?
Maybe try opening the remote again and cleaning the contacts/making sure there is no corrosion anywhere inside the remote? I have definitely seen that be a factor in reducing the power supplied by a fresh battery, making it the equivalent to an old battery in a fresh remote.
Loose connection where the battery is installed?
