keyless entry help
im getting ready to install a clifford rsx 3.5 alarm and was wondering if it is easy to install power door actuators. Will i need a seperate relay and if so how many? or i can just plug it into the alarm??
What you need will depend on what you put in for door lock actuators, normally the least expensive way is to install a 2 wire actuator in each door, run the 2 leads from each door the the same spot under the dash or one of the kick panels, there you will need to install 2 SPDT relays, [one for lock and one for unlock, and wire them like this... http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp
The other way to go is with a "Central" locking system, they come is diff. configurations, but all will come with at least 2 actuators, [one 2 wire and one 5 wire, (drivers door)] and a "black box", [relay and circuitry box] a 5 wire actuator has a switch in it that sends a lock or unlock signal to the "black box" the "black box" then locks or unlocks the other door. EG: if you lock the drivers door with the key or the manual door lock button it will also lock the pass. door, if both actuators are 5 wire, then locking or unlocking the pass. door will also lock or unlock the drivers door, [Central Locking], the "black box" will also have, [at least] a set of low current neg. (-) inputs, [for the door lock outputs from the Matrix RSX 3.5.
The advantage of a central locking system, [especially one with 2 five wire actuators] is you can lock and unlock both doors using a key or the stock manual door lock buttons, [no switch's have to be installed] and the polarity reversing relays are already wired, [black box]
