best aftermarket front speakers for 88-91 EF
i notice that crx's cant get the best, we have to get small something small as in depths wise. or else we cant roll our window down all the way. im just wondering whats the best speakers/ components that will fit in the doors with clearance to roll the window down. im talkinga bout 6.5 speakers.

I'm pretty sure you can use spacer rings to get a deeper speaker in there. mine came with pioneers that had a moderate sized coil. I'm gonna try to toss in some Boston Acoustics that my bro has. I'm trading a POS sub that came with the car. those BA's have pretty big coils. I'll let you know if they fit.

I got 6.5 polks on all 4 in my rex and they fit fine. Rear speakers dont make too much of a difference so just pick up a good pair of 6.5 for the front and get a small sub. I have a 8 inch kicker solobaric and it sounds nice

I have infinity kappa's in my door. But I had to modify them to fit. And oh yeah they are in my hatch.

cheap rockford fosgates rock the front doors of my ef.......i love them, mainly cause they were cheap(got them on some big special sale or something), and cause they dont have a paper cone.

I figured teh rears wouldn't do much in the rex, but I'm going to try to get some 5-by plate speakers to fill in the midrange a little. so the fronts are 6.5s? perfect. who has tweeters mounted? are there any good locations that don't make it look to ghetto? nothing sexier than random looking tweeters...

I'm using Kenwood KFC-XR600 2 way DualMags in my doors...very,very lightweight 6.5 inch speaker thats bi-ampable and only 1 15/16 deep. The only thing is that the tweeter rubs the grill a little bit,but it doesn't affect sound quality at all.

Looks nice! Pictures tell a thousand words. Did you have to cut out the back of the factory speaker housing to clear the speaker magnet?
Another thing I noticed is that you are not using your "Door hinge Limiter". Arent you afraid someday the wind is gonna blow your door too far open and crease the door or your fender???

i'm running a set of boston acoustic components in my doors. 6 1/2" fit fine cutting out the black plastic ring a little bit. The surround touches the grille on one side so i need to fix that sometime soon. In my last Civic i had Infinity Reference's bolted directly to the door with 2 washers and it cleared the windows fine. Those Infinity speakers are amazing with about 150 watts running to them, i was very impressed for $60.

I've had several.
Best buy if they screw up return them was well worth it.
Cerwin vega's did great, came w/spacer rings, tweeter went bad. They were real nice too.
Pioneer's currently....theyre ok.
BTW at one point I cut out the back of the plastic basket, only downside sometimes in heavy rains a little water gets on the speaker grill, but never any problems associated with it.

focals are definitely sweeet! my pops has a pair of focal 12inch drivers in his home audio setup, man they reproduce sound extremely life like.

JL Audio XR-650-CSIs I had to remove the factory speaker mount and use trim rings to mount them but they are the best I have ever heard. Awesome midbass, beautifuly accurate tweeter. Check 'em out http://jlaudio.com/evolution/XR650CS.html

I used to have 6 1/2" Alpine DDDrive seperates in the front but the magnet was hitting the glass even with a spacer I put in. Now my tint and glass are scratched up. Now I switched to Infinity 5 1/4" seperates and they sound great. I also put a foam baffle cup to help with midrange.

Re: (EFsleeper)
The Focal 6.5" PolyGlas series. I got a really good deal on them from a local shop, but they had no fitment issues. Just dropped in, with the crossover secured inside the door. The sound is amazing, and after 3 other pairs of mids, I found my set.

Re: (crx98)
not to hijack the thread or anything but let see some custom Sub enclosures in a CRX... I am thinking of doing one 10" in each rear corner kindof pointed up and out... Just dont know how to build the box yet... Thinking of making a fiberglass rear section to fit arounf the wheel well... Any suggestions?

I have some blue Pioneer 6.5" speakers in the front and back. They are nice. They can go as loud as you could want and dont really loose quality unless you are really pushing it alot. They are decent priced about $70CDN for 2.
