hey, If the box is sealed, you'll need any where from .4-.8 cubic feet

If the box is ported, It will need to be .9-1.25 cubic feet.

How much power are you using? and what kind of amp do you have?

I have a phoenix gold amp hooked to it...my bro said it has enough power to push my jl...its in a sealed box well insulated...im looking for some deep hitting bass...what you would recommend for this?...Also, i only really hear the bass when im standing in front of my car, but when i stand in the back i can barely hear it...i know i can get it to hit louder but i dont know how set it up...and when i open my trunk it sounds like the speaker is going to blow...Let me know whats best for my 12" JL W6.

it sounds better when the trunk is closed due to the pressure being different on the outside of the speaker.

I dont remember much about the W6, but i know .8 is to small. the W6 liked spaced when being driven hard.

if it sounds like *** when you open the trunk, it usually means that you are over driving the speaker for the size of the box that its in.
The normal I think for the 12w6 is 1.25 cubic feet and 300 to 400watts continous.
