?? JL -OR- INFINITY ??
I have narrowed my speaker/sub setup down pretty good I think.
First the front doors (98 Integra 2door) have a pretty shallow depth to them so that kinda holds me back on my coices so im pretty much settled on either JL or Infinity. Because they are both fairly low priced and from what I have heard they both preform pretty well for the $$$
So now I need you to help me choose between them.
First
Infinity kappa perfect 6 1/2" in the front doors
with a set of 6 1/2" kappas in the back
And a 12" perfect Sub in a sealed enclosure
Second
JL XR 6 1/2" componets in the front doors
JL XR 6 1/2" coax's in the rears
Jl 12W3 in a sealed enclosure
Third
A mix and match of the two maybe???
Forth
A better suggestion??? In the same price range?
So any help and or advice would be great. I would go try and hear it myself but its kind of hard to test a whole system at once. I listen mostly to r&b and rap but also some techno and rock. Thanks

I have all Infinity Kappa perfect speakers 2-6.5" components sets, one 4x6 plate and one Kappa perfect sub with a Jbl p 80.4 and a bp 600.1. Today I am going to look at autotek, audiocontrol eq/crossovers. I did a trial hookup and it sounded amazing. I would go with Infinity Kappa speakers over JL

i have Infinity Kappa components up front and Infinity Kappa rears in the back.. i've had them for a few years (got them when i was in college) and Im happy w/ their performance/sound... I listen to Rap, R&B, Trance and Korean pop.. it all sounds real good w/ my speakers..
The depth isn't that shallow, unless you are trying to use the stock speaker holders. If this is all that is holding you back, just buy some 6 1/2 spacers. The ones I bought cost $5.00 a pair. Toss the stock speaker holder. I fit Soundstream Exact 6.5's in my integra sounded very nice.
For subs definately JL, Ive got three 12w6's I'll sell you for $400.00

INFINITY up front and in rear speakers...do not bother with JL..
As far as the subs, the JL's will hit hard for spl, the perfects are just that, perfect sound quality.
The perfects were designed for a sealed box, but can be ported....but the JL'poo poo harder at the expense of sound quality. Pick your sub based on listening to them in an appropriate box for your type of music, but definetly go infinity for the insides, your ears will thank you ! (specially the fronts!!)

I'm running Kappas in the front off my Alpine deck unfortuantely, but they do sound nice. Secondly, I have a 12" Perfect in the rear and it is very very nice. Loud and Bassy, yet tight and accurate!
Good Luck!

well infinity is a great company. i run infinity speakers all around in my car.
the jl xr line is straight up really good tho.
for rap/r&b i think you'll really like the jl stuff. the xr comps have solid midbass and the w3's can do some impressive spl with enough power.
thats just the characteristics id look for for a rap/r&b setup. so yeah my vote goes to jl.
just dont cheap out when it comes time to amp stuff.
