Ok I have a 94 civic hatch, and I want to get a W7 but I dont know which size to get, I want a ported box, and I plan on putting it where the spare tire well is and raising the floor a little bit. How much space is that give/take? Would it be big enough to have a ported fiberglass box for a 12 w7?

I have a shitty amp right now, but I plan on getting a new amp one of these days (before the sub though, I want to get the box built first then put in my old sub to use in the meantime) depending on reviews and opinions I would like to get the memphis bell amp, its a 5 channel and it is a mix of class a/b and class d, so it will put out 1000 watts to a sub at 1ohm. Sounds good to me, but what do you guys think?

If you want a raised floor sealed will be easier. It is harder to calculate volume and get a descent sized port in that type of install.

Just build the bottom section first, then fill it with water.

If you're going for sound quality, the w7 is excellent. if you're going for SPL, the w7 is excellent. if you can afford it, you really can't go wrong with it. I have a 10w7 in the H-O enclosure, with a Zapco ag750 amp (I can't say enough good things about this amp).

According to the guy at the shop I had everything installed at, 2 10w7's will fit in a sealed box that is about the same size as the H-O box for one 10w7.

I'll try to have pics up of the install in a few days.

oh, and you'll def. want a capacitor too. Alomapro's 5 farad plate cap. is top notch.

For the money, Diamond TDX subs are WAY better. Marketed specifically as "The W7 Killer". There are at least $100 less per sub and way more efficent.

Yes, when installed correctly with enough power to drive it. Hands down better.

Sound Pressure Level. It is a measure of loudness.

I have had a bit of experience with W7s... KILLER SUB!!!! awesome but you HAVE TO GIVE IT THE POWER IT NEEDS!!! you should put 1000watts through it... ive seen people underpower the hell out of them and they are NOTHING... they sound terrible they need to be put to its fullest to really hear the quality... I considered a W7 for my car but instead i went with 2 W6 V2s...

my friend had a 12" w7 in his civic coupe. it was a custom sealed box and it sounded CLEAN. it hit damn hard too. unfortunately he had to give it up and stick with his 2 12"w3v2s. we entered his car in the san diego extreme autofest rookie class sq comp. with the 2 12's. the 2 12"s thumped out at 133.3 dbL. the ONE w7 was undoubtedly louder than those 2 12's powered by the same jl 1000.1 amp. so imo the jl w7 is absolutely worth the price you pay for it.

Many of the "big" 12's will do 130's sealed. They can also do 140's ported generally.

I have yet to hear one, and I don't want to be biased, but I have never heard anything like a JL 13W7 took my breath away. One sub, "smaller" box, not too much power

AMAZING

the 12w7 is a very nice driver. It's a benchmark for many other companies. Just wish i didn't have to repair mine. No time to do so
