Default ipod whine

i just installed an ipod ready apline deak in my car. i also wires a car charger at the same time. now when i start my ipod i can hear a whine in the speakers that speeds up as the ipod starts to spin up. anyone have any suggestions? is it a power problem, a ground problem? i cant think of anything else. thanks
