IPod integration - is it the future
IPod integration - is it the future
I bought a neo ion iPod adapter from http://www.mp3yourcar.com awhile back for my car. So now my iPod takes place of the cd changer. After using it and seeing my friends show interest in it I have come to the conclusion that in a few years cd changers will be obsolete and everyone will be using iPods or other digital music players. Young people really seem to want this and for car companies to think they are still going out and buying actual cd’s is foolish.

The EMPEG car radio had these sorta features. It was a hack job by a bunch of bored computer guys. had a laptop HD (forget what size, but you could upgrade it yourself as the unit ran linux). It also had a USB connection, and some sort of lan interface (can't remember if it had the wireless at the time or just the ethernet).
This was well before any bigger company ever picked up on this idea. I don't know if you can still find these things around or not.
EDIT> http://www.linuxdevices.com/ar....html
As you can see the unit wasn't much in the way of looks and flashyness.
