ipod to headunit trouble
Can someone tell me how to access the aux option on this deck? It seems like all the connections are right so far but somehow the ipod still doesnt play from the deck. What are the other ways to do this by spending as little money as possible. Thanx for the help.

does not have to say compatible with ipod... if it have a aux input thats all you need.. there are afew different ways to get a aux input if your hu doesnt have one in the back or front. ie changer input can be converted to a aux input.

Heres the deck:

The connections on the back:

The rca's up close: (IN=left OUT=right)

The setup:

</TD></TR></TABLE>Your problem is you have the wrong adpt. you need one that also plugs into the CD changer port, the HU is not switching to changer mode, so the "audio buss in", [used for CD changer audio signal] is not turning "on"

i have this, and i have used it to play the sound from movies on my laptop over the sterio (viewed by the passenger of course). anything with a headphone jack will work with it.

dont know if this will help, but when i had the same RCA cords plugged into my older pioneer deck i HAD to use the <U>output</U> RCAs, it wouldnt work with the input, which i thought was odd, worth a shot
you need a head unit with aux input and from what i see that radio doesnt have one. the inputs you have are for an amplifier so that you can amp the front and rear speakers. once you have a head unit with aux inputs it is very easy.

He does not need a HU with an AUX input, [although it would make it easier].
He has one input, ["buss audio in"] it is for the changers audio signal, he has one pre amp output, [rear audio out] it is used for an amp, and is controlled by the fader "rear".
There are adapt. form suppliers like SoundGate, OEM, Blitzsafe, PAC and others including Sony themselves that will turn the CD changer "unilink port" and "buss audio in" into an AUX input.

So basically what im looking for is a cd changer plug with a headphone jack on the other side? Can I find one of these at my local Electronic Stores?
On the back of that cd player it looks like the blue plug is the Aux input. You will need a cable with a head phone jack on each end, and then put the HU on Aux.

dont let me confuse you. that is the case for alpine head units. my knowledge of HUs doesn't extend as far as that of the sonys.

im sorry but your guys must be BLIND! look at the splitter he is using. he is using a female to male connector. now where he has the ipod connected to is considered either the center or the outer part of the female adapter. if he gets a male to male spliter it will work.... SHEESH!

Others showed him the adapt. you are talking about, headphone to male RCAs, and if the Sony had a RCA AUX input that would be the end of it.
But as I have explained, even with that adapt. it will not work, unless the HU can be tricked into thinking that there is a CD changer plugged into it , [unilink port and the buss audio in] it will not switch to changer mode so the buss audio in will not turn on, you would get more sound by plugging the adapt. into the audio output. SHEESH! yourself.

i think you might be able to use this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-F...MSC02 or this one http://www.crutchfield.com/S-F...XA300 with most other HU besides Sony you can hook up your ipod with one or two cables. Sony unfortunately doesnt have much you can use for their HUs

PS I would go with the aftermarket one, made for iPod and has all the cables.

These adaptors that plug in the changer jack make it work with any audio source.
I'm doing the same thing with my stock Acura radio and a Sirius receiver.
