Default ipod in car

so does anyone know what works best to hard wire an ipod to a stock stereo system. My friend did it in his trans am and he can still use the steering wheel controls. I don want to get one of those am plug in things.

What kind of car? Does it have cd changer controls on the radio?

Check here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/

You'll need either an Auxillary Input Converter or the iPod interface.

Any cheaper ways than that link? I just aquired my sisters old ipod, and I want to hook it up similar to the way my bmw friends have theirs w/the aux port. I have an Alpine deck, can I just bring it into a stereo shop and have them take care of it?

If the deck doesn't have an actual aux input (RCA input), then no, there isn't a cheaper way to do it, unless you go with an FM mod.
