Inverting Subs - Reverse the polarities with it?
Well Im gonna invert the audiobahns when I wire them on monday when I get my car back from the windshield shop.
Ive got them wired for 2ohm and I wanna know if I can screw anything up by switching the + and -
I love the way the basket looks on these subs and the extra space in my alread monstrous box.
When the subs are inverted, how does the cone bounce?

This car is just for daily driving and fun at school and parking lots with friends.
Not going to db drag it. I heard that if you keep them wired +;+ and -:- that the subs will go 180 of out phase?
I really dont get how a sub works when its inverted.

If it works with them placed normally in the box, then all you have to do is flip them upside down you do not have to rewire.
It is really easy to tell if your subs are out of phase. Hook them up however you think they are supposed to be. If you hear very little base one of them is out of phase. Just swap the wires on one speaker, now you should have your bass back.

Where do you get this stuff?
Think about this for a bit. What really is the difference between flipping the wires around? What is really changing? Will it distort? Why would it cause any distortion?

by reversing the polarity you are reversing the cone movement. if you were on the east coast id be glad to switch the polarity on my idq10dvcs for you or my jl 12w3 and show you. the ids are in a sealed box and they do indeed distort. the jl is in a virtual technologies box - ported, and it although it doesnt distort to the same degree as my Ids do, it still does
take it a step further - a driver is designed to oscillate around a fixed point in both directions - therefore, the driver doesn't care what signal it gets - and if it's reversed or not.
I've been running speakers out of phase for years, and they never distort - subs, mids, tweeters, horns, everything.
If you are really getting distrortion by inverting phase, you are doing something wrong. It will do nothing to damage or harm your speakers.
My IDX 24 and my Alpine H700 allow you to swap the phase on every output (well almost every on the IDX-24
) - they wouldn't give you this ability if it created distortion or damaged your speakers
