Default installing my new amp . . .

I have a 2000 civic lx, 4dr sedan, and I just got a 2 channel amp that I want to install for the two rear speakers of my car. I recently upgraded my factory speakers with sony xplod 270 watt speakers. This amp pushes 750 watts. Along with the speakers I added a subwoofer/amp unit (blackmaxxx ground pounder)
My first question would be, should I install it? Would my speakers get blown out. And my second question is, how do I install it? Would it be easy to do myself since I had a subwoofer professionallly installed already?

Thanks for the help!

No it doesn't.

Why the hell not?

Probably not. What is the RMS rating on that amp? If it's more than the 270 watt peak value of the speakers, turn the gains down on the amp...

The proper way to do it would be to add a fused power distribution block. Provided your main power wire from the battery wire is big enough (at least 4 gauge), run the battery wire into the block, and then connect the two amps to the block. Ground each amp to the same spot, and split the remote wire to both amps.

If you're running a smaller gauge wire from the battery for the first amp, you can either swap that out for a larger wire, or simply run another 8 ga line back to the second amp.

The rms rating is 250w. So does that mean I can use the amp to its full potential? And is there a website I could go to so that I can see how the amp is installed. I am pretty new to this, but I'd really like to do it myself. Thanks again for the help

What is the make and model of the amp?
What is the make and model of the front speakers?
What is the make and model of your HU, [radio]?
If you are going to "amp" anything, it should be the front speakers. 94

The amp I'm trying to install is a lightning audio 2 channel amp, model # b4.250.2. The hu is a jvc kd-g430. In the trunk I have a "blackmaxx ground pounder - amplified tube" which that guy that installed it told me it worked independent of the speakers. My front speakers and my rear speakers are Sony, models xs-r1642 and xs-r6942 respectively.
I wanted to put the amp for the two rear speakers because I thought it would be easier. Does anyone know a website I could get detailed instructions from? Thanks again for all the help!

just because its easier to install it for the rear speakers doesn't mean its better. Amp your front speakers and you will be thankful. A lot better soundstage. Go ahead and hook it up, just turn the gains down.

Then look up how to properly set the gains on an amp. It involves having your HU at 2/3 - 3/4 of full volume, then increasing the gains until you hear distortion or clipping. Then lower the gains slightly. Or you can do it using a dmm that is a little more accurate so you aren't trying to overdrive your amp.

Front soundstage > rear fill....amp the fronts.

In that case, I also have a Sony XM-554ZR 4 channel amp. Would I be better paying for that to be installed. I was quoted $80 for the installation. I cant find the rms specification for this amp. SHould I install that amp instead? SHould I pay to have it professionally done? Thanks for your help. This site is the best!!!

The Sony XM-554XM is 4x55W RMS into 4 ohms or 4x65W RMS into 2 ohms or 2x130W RMS into 4 ohms, it is not stable below 4 ohms when bridged.

You have 50W continuous, [RMS] speakers, so the Sony amp is a good match for the speakers.

Wire the rear speakers in series, [for an 8 ohm load] connect them to the bridged rear channels of the amp, [for a mono rear stage] this will help front stage and imaging, also disable the tweeters on the rear speakers, this will help prevent left/right bias in the front and bring the stereo image up.
Run the front speakers on high-pass and the rears full-range, [mono]. 94

WOW. this is interesting. I am trying to lightly build lil system now. I just bought a MRP-F240. I have rear 6x9 in my Accord. I have no front speakers. I have one front tweeter. lol. Am I better off investing in some front speakers?
