Installing alarm, need help
I searched already and couldn't find what I'm looking for. I have a 97 civic ex and I was following the "how to" sticky and I'm not sure where my ignition harness is because I need to tap the black/yellow wire for the ignition input on the alarm. Does anyone know where this harness is? I also don't know where my main relay is, I Think it is either on the passanger's side hidden by the glove box or it's under the driver's pannel, I need to tap the black/white, can someone tell me where this one is also. I'm pretty sure I can find everything else. Thanks to anyone that can help.
i just started installing alarms for the 1st time on my cars. i have a 1997 honda civic hx with a viper 350hv (basic).
if you need the 1997 Honda Civic Wiring Diagram this is the website i use.=
http://www.commandocaralarms.c...Civic
if you need more information like testing wires, how-to,benefits on........ect.... u can also use their tech support on the "main areas" left side of the page.
and about the company "commando alarms" . i dont know if their items are good or not. but the information on tech support is really useful.
tip= always double-check all the wires with a multimeter and never cut any wires until your sure your not going to need them!!!

Ignition harness runs from the key cylinder down the steering column...
Main relay is in the driver underdash... But why do you think you need to tap this wire for an alarm install?

Same question.
The main relay, [PGM-FI Main Relay] has a blue/white, a white/black and a yellow/black, and four others, but no black/white.

Alright that is what I needed to know. Thanks a lot guys. btw I needed to get to the main relay for the start kill. The DIY sticky said that I could interupt the black/white wire with the start kill wires from the alarm but I'm probably not going to mess with it now since I already have a hidden switch on my fuel pump.
Here is where it tells me about the main relay:
"Doing your starter interrupt on the steering column is bad for several reasons. The most important reason is that it actually makes it easier for a thief to hotwire your car than if there was no start kill at all. For my stealth install, the absolute best choice is to interrupt the fuel pump near the back seat. Another good choice is to interrupt the black/white wire at the main relay. Whichever you choose, use the other option for your kill switch."

Forget the black and white thing. The main relay needs a ground. Its going to be a solid black wire. Sometimes it has two wires. Kill that with a relay. Also do not just leave the relay right there. I extend the wires and hide it up in the dash. You will not be able to start the car period.

As mentioned by wrx-killer-Sti-eater forget starter kill, no matter where you install the starter cut relay, it is easily bypassed, with any metal object, under the hood, and bump starting a standard is easy.
Use the starter cut relay for ign. disable instead, black/yellow, or ground for PGM-FI Main Relay, it will be much more effective.

Fixed it.
Follow the website (in my sig), really. It's much easier to follow. It's picture intensive. And it has many things not included in the stickies, ie under hood starter and ignition kills.

Well, I'm all done aside from just hiding some of the wires to look stock. Thanks for the help guys. I defiantly could not have done this without that write up.
I went to your website, and it was really helpful, I am trying to install my alarm and some kill switches, this helped me a lot, I'm still "puzzled" on how to install teh alarm.

It was really helpful, and it helped you alot, but you're still "puzzled"??
Um, what?
BTW, instead of hijacking this guy's thread, why don't you make your own, specifically outlining what's "puzzling" you.
