Infinity Kappa's or Reference 6.5 components for Alpine CDA-7875 headunit?
I just have the Alpine CDA-7875 to power the speakers. This headunit seems to be a very high-powered headunit...it is rated at 60x4...so will this be enough for Kappa's? Do References require less power to sound nice? What should I look to get?
And are Infinity components the best speakers for their price range? I don't have a whole lot of experience with what is out there and what is the best for an affordable price...

I have the Kappas and would definitely recommend them. I could be wrong, but I think the 60X4 should be enough to push those things.

and if you want those kappas to sounds amazing get a small amp for them, because then you are getting constant power to them....you wont be sorry
ok so are the Kappa's much better than the Reference's? Would the references fair a lot better without an amp than Kappa's?
any speaker with an amp hooked up to it will sound much better then if it werer just hooked up to your deck....the refrences are good speakers. The difference between the 2 is like the civic EX vs. the civic SI
I hate my kappa's - they're garbage. At high frequencies, they sound harsh - kinda metally if that makes sense. Oh yea, the tweets have blown in less than a year, and they've been tuned and powered correctly.
I'll never buy another infinity component set.
Spend your cash on someting decent like MB Quart.

Buy a set of JL Audio XR650CS and 3 wedge packs of Dynamat Extreme for the front doors. I heard this set up off an old Alpine deck and the bass response was spectacular in a 95 Civic EX. It really sounded like a 8" sub was in there. It sounded pretty good for deck power until it started clipping. Off the CDA7875, it should sound pretty good. That deck puts out 25W rms or something...supposively to have the most RMS power built into a headunit. Just be sure to connect the constant power wire directly to the fuseblock.
