Important security issue
in light of all the recent break-ins and thefts i have been doing everything possible to upgrade the terribly bad security of my civic hatch. I have addressed most of the obvious things, i have reinforced the door at the 'B' pillar, sheilded the lock cylinder (to prevent the pathetically easy slim-jim method) installed an alarm with multiple sirens and a back up battery, installed a kill switch etc. etc.
What more can a guy do you ask? Well. whats to stop someone from simply throwing a rock through the window? What indeed?
3M makes a security film that can be applied to glass so that it holds together in the event of a break. It doesn't prevent the glass from shattering but it does hold it together and can resist up to 400 lbs of force. The idea is to slow a theif down enough that he will loose interest and take off. Most car theifs are pretty stupid but they are also pretty lazy and they are smart enough to know that if they cant get in the car within a few seconds its not worth the effort.
I plan on getting some of this magic plastic film but the big downside is, IT' S $800 for a 40 inch by 100 foot roll!!!! Not only is this hella expensive but it's far more than i will ever need. I figure about $60 worth would do both door windows, about twice that to do the doors and the rear quarters.
Would any of you security minded dudes be interested in buying some of this stuff from me when and if i actually get it? If you wan't to know more follow the link bellow http://products.3m.com/us/home_leisu...gvQ0G9PFKRTLgl
If any of you are interested in some of the other security measures that i described above please e-mail me.

Ummm did you ever think about the fact that if you were to get in a big wreck, your car caught on fire, and your doors couldn't open that this film may not be a good idea.
Just playing the other side of the coin.
Just playing the other side of the coin.
Is life worth living if my car gets wreaked?
Just kidding, Actually i haven't thought about that but to be honest, if i get into an accident that caused so much damage that the door couldn't open i would probably be in a world of hurt already. I doubt the window would make much diference. Anyway, rescue workers would be able to get through it or just pull the window out entirely, it's designed to slow a theif down, nothing can really prevent someone who is determined to get in.
