Default Imobilizer chips

Okay so ya know how an say fords PATS systems they have the little capsule in the key you can remove via the cap in the top of the key? Then you could take this capsule and hot glue it to the key cylinder and viola simple inexpensive alternative the 555f? Not that this is a common or recomended practice. Has any one done this with any other cars? Heres why, my brother has a 01 Galant and some how he keeps messing up his 555Us and frankly im tierd of pulling it apart and replacing them. Say i took a box cutter to the rubber on the top of the key and went looking for this chip what do you think I would find? Somthing small enough to hide next to the key cylinder? I know this sounds ghetto but as I mentioned before this is a very low crime area no ones cars ever get stolen and even if it did he has insurance and the car is bone stock any way. Not to mention its kept in an attached garage. This would also allow him to have inexpesive copies of his key made vs going to the dealer. Let me know what you think?

LOL, old school, one of the ways we used to do it when they first came out, [transponder keys] cut the key portion off and mount the top part someplace around the ign. switch, or the make your own bypass for the cars that had immobilizers that would not work if it "sees" 2 transponder keys at the same time, [all you need is a relay and some wire] 94

Just do what I do. Leave the spare key in the ignition all the time... No bypass module needed!

I lock the doors with my alarm, and I've got starter kill, so I'm not that worried...

I agree. But you got to do it because ppl dont want there key chopped in half. It's good to know that you can do that. Its also another way to trick thevies. Because they can find the bypass module but with the chip it can be hiddin behind the ignition.

Man you must live in a cool spot. If I would do that I would be chancing my itr or my gsr or my da. If a crook seen that he is going to go for the gust o. I can depend on my alarm system to work because I have a couple of of new tricks that really work. But I think if some one see's a key there going to try it. O well I guess I can see how well that new lo-jack and Dei gps really works. lol good luck for you.

I do "that" in GM's all the time. Passlock II mostly. I know all the bypasses say the GM's need to see the resistance at the correct time, but most passlock 2's... just cut the yellow wire and measure the resistance on the keyside to the ground signal... then hook that value resistor from the car side yellow to ground. No need for relays or anything. Plus your customers can use the keys they currently have and if any more are needed... just hit up good old walmart.

Im sayin! If you have a starter kill or fuel cut off the key isnt going to do much. My EG is still under construction but when Im done there will be no key to start the car. Im going to have a series of switches for the accy and ign wires and a push to start button. It will be like starting a jet or somthing. lol

Yeah, I got really lazy on that car... No 555H hooked up, and I ran it tachless. Usually that works (set threshhold to low), but on the really cold mornings (-10 last week 2 days) it just cranks for .8 seconds then says "F U"... lol...

My wife has a 2002 rendevouz and I just got around to putting in her remote start one night after working all day. So yeah, she got no tach wire either. She was lucky she got locks and trunk pop and I didnt make her use her factory remote. lol
