Default Ideas for audio build

Hey guys I have a 1997 Accord Coupe and I would like to upgrade my head unit but also all around get a better sound system. Everything is stock except for my current head unit I think its a JVC of some sort. But the thing is horrible. I have a CD stuck inside of it and it says no CD. Every time I press a button it changes it's function to a different button.
I am looking for a double din head unit such as a Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD. But I am willing to take any suggestions. I just want to be able to play music videos but it wouldn't kill me to get a single din head unit with no video. Everything else please give me suggestions I have little experience with sound.
My budget would be a little under $500 for everything but the head unit.
The head unit I can get a discount on so feel free to recommend anything with an MSRP of $700 or less.

Thanks!

Well I am not looking for something amazing. Just something with a little kick. But with a sub try to keep it under 600.

Honestly all types of music but a majority would be electronic/house/techno and rap. I like having bass but too much just kills the song imo so I would rather have crisp quality as you mentioned.

Not at all. But if I would need to transport something I could just take out the amplifier and subwoofer box in my trunk correct?

If you want SQ try Kenwood KDC-x995 It should give you more money for a better sub. For sub I would get a RL-p Soundsplinter 12" another for SQ, amp AQ, sundown, or something rated at 1000rms. Get some infinity speakers run it off HU. Golden

You could always go with an alpine headunit 2005 or later and use the Alpine KTP-445 - 180W 4-Channel Mini Amplifier, it plugs right into the wiring harness and delivers 45 wattsx4 and takes up barely any space. That with a decent set of tweeters and some new speakers would give you nice sound quality, ive installed them in a couple hondas and was surprised with the sound quality.

Pawn shop FTMFW. I've picked up numerous systems out the pawn shop that did just fine. Pawn shops only take in what they know works (most of them do anyway). Also they usually give people bottom dollar for their stuff, so in most cases they can pass them savings on to you. You might have to settle for last years model or whatnot, but you'll still be satisfied. My best steal was an Alpine head unit, JL amp, MTX 10" 5500 in a sealed box, Pioneer 5.25" front speakers, and MB Quart 6x9s for $350. Sold it with the Ford Tempo that it was in. For the price I did damn good on quality products.

My little brother has this deck, and loves it. I have the older model (cda 9884) and love it as well
It's pretty cheap:

I suggest Infinty speakers. I am In love with them.

Little brother has Kappa's front and rear, and I just have ref 6.5's in front.

You will deffinetly want to look into at least a 10 or a 12 to go with

If you know a little bit about car stereo wiring you can use the Alpine KTP-445 - 180W 4-Channel Mini Amplifier and wire it to any car radio whether it be aftermarket or stock. I'm with 98civdx Infinity speakers are great speakers you get excellent sound quality and your not breaking the bank. And since you have an accord coupe you should go with one 12 inch sub in a ported box and it will give you awesome sound and you can stay under ur spending limit.
