I need some advice...
I have a 00 civic and want to put a system in it. I have a nice kenwood headunit. I need to know what names to stay away from and what I should buy on a budget. I want it to all be new, not used. I want 2 12" subs and box and what size amp.?? Does the box really make a difference??

you're a big noob...it's ok, though. try ikesound.com and onlinecarstereo.com to look for equipment. one thing VERY important when buying an in-car-entertainment system is that...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! the more you pay, the better it's gonna sound. the cheapest buy is normally a piece of ****. if you hear that you're gonna get a 2000 watt amp for $150...it's bullshit. take your time and research. and YES! the box makes a huge difference...have a good chat with your local audio dealer. they can help.

There is nothing wrong with used. Wanna buy my stuff??? lol...
Anyways, Stay away from anything with the name SONY on it. It's this crap Asian company that makes some hot looking equipment, but the **** Explodes, just like the name...
anways, with a box...
THeres three types, Sealed, Ported, and Bandpass....
Sealed hits real nice and gets off... Ported is mainly used for competition or people who loooovee BOOOOOMMMMMMMM BOOM BOOM BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM and everything shaking...
Bandpass is good for smaller cheapo subs to get the most out of them, they look nice, and sound good...
I have used all three before
I made a ported box and went with a single 12...REAL LOUD!!! crazy bass...Not good with techno or fast bass music cuz sometimes the bass is delayed...
Bandpass was my first box and it was a good beginner system...Has nice tone, hits hard and looks GREAT in the back of your car....no real drawbacks besides the quality of the subs that can fit in most bandpass boxes
I am now with a Sealed box with Infinity Kappa Perfect 10" subs. They hit REAAALY hard...Real clear, and perfect hits...
If you want to have a nice system without sacraficing TOOO MUCH speed, go with some 10" subs that are rated high and are DVC (dual Voice Coil)... my 10" subs hit as hard as the 12'z i had previously...
Amps to stay with ROCKFORD!!! or infinity, pioneer, but stay closer to the Rockford cuz they are really underrated...a 500watt amp spits out more than that...
Subs, I would go Rockford Powers NOT PUNCH!!! dont get that shitty Best Buy ****... I would also go Infinity Perfects, or if you want to save money, Alpine makes a mean sub that is price savy...
Make sure you take into account the price of wiring and ****...That ADDS UP!!! but research is key, Do not jump into something because it looks good, go on epinions.com and other review sites and see what other people are saying...
