Default I have a problem with my CD player

I have a Kenwood KDC-515S cd player and it has the flip up and down faceplate which is also removable. Whenever I have the faceplate down to try and change a cd the stupid cd player shuts off and I cant do anything not even take the cd out. Usually before when it was working correctly the cd would come out even if the car was off. Any suggestions on what is wrong with it?

dude, I have a kdc 8017 Mp3 player with the manual flip down faceplate. the damn thing won't even come on correctly, I have to position the faceplate at a downward angle for it to come on. My belief is that the ribbon wire that runs along the backside of the faceplate wears over time and severs the wire within the ribbon. It basically tears up everytime you flip it into mask mode. I don't know how much it's going to cost me to repair it but, if this **** happens again, I'm not buying kenwood anything anymore.

i work at an electronics store and seen these problems left and right. i'm almost certain that the tape connection that makes the connection between the face and the unity itself has a slight rippage or a loose incrament in the tape so everytime you fold the face down, it looses connection in that area hense having you radio turn off. if you want to get it repaired, take it to an electronic store, or deal witht he warrenty issue. the tape connection usually cost like $30-50, so you'll probably lookingt at 80-120 to get it repaired plkus labor.
