What exactly is a hood lock? My Civic has been broken into twice this year (Ya, 25 day into the new year I had TWO police reports and insurance claims to deal with, and THREE deductables.)

I have picked up a Back-Up battery and a Hood Pin, and will be installing a second Siren/Backup Battery as well...

I was reading about Security System recomendations and saw the term Hood Lock. What is such a beast and are they expensive?

 

It's a mechanical bolt that keeps the hood from being opened when engaged. Think of a bank vault with those big bolts that go through the side of the door. Problem is when they fail, you have to use a hole-saw on your hood to get the hood open. Not cheap to fix.

 

And what prevents a thief from using the same thing to get under your hood? (But I guess it's just another LAYER to increase the security)

Any links to good hood locks? Or a name brand to look for? Thanx!

thats just the problem. there's no total security, only layers. thieves suck.
