Default Honda Deck using Alpine MP3 Changer?

Well my car got broken into after the tranny died and someone tryed to jack my MP3 Kenwood and just destoryed it. So I'm on the search for a new idea. What if I got a Honda deck and used an Alpine (since Honda uses Alpine) MP3 CD changer? Would this work? That way people wouldn't know what I have and it would still sound decent.

Also, not sure if factory decks have this, but do any decks have RCA outs?

What model/year is the head unit from, and no, I have never seen one with preamp outs. Just use a line level converter.

I guess I would find any factory deck that would support it. I am just looking for a way to get my MP3s with a factory look but don't want a cassette adapter or a radio adapter thingy.

Here's what I've turned up:

If you want to use Alpine, I can get a Soundgate controller and cable that works with Honda stereos 98-00 (must have cd changer controls).

I think retail is about $75 for both plus shipping, I could probably do $65 shipped if you want to save a few bucks. Only thing is, if you go to Soundgate.com, it doesn't give many details on which Alpine changers will work with it.

If they all use the same connector, you should be good. Otherwise I'd suggest contacting Soundgate to see if their adapter is compatible with the changer you want to use.

The soundgate adaptor only works for alpine cd changers that are have the M-BUS cable which is the non-mp3 unit. Unfortunately the alpine unit that is mp3 capable is the AI-NET series. I hope this helps.

I was going to say the Soundgate works with M -Bus only.. However Alpine does make a FM Modulator piece that looks like this..

Now this piece is Damn sweet. It will let you control that MP3 Changer and also has the output for Xm Radio if you ever decide later to install that.. But I sell this piece alot to people that own Mercedes because for the price of a factory Changer I can put Xm and a MP3 Changer in the car. But the only downside is it is not a direct connect but FM Modulated. But if you download alot of MP3's your not getting that great of Sound Quality anyways.

bump cause im wondering the same thing, ive got a few oem tape decks and it looks like the "m-bus" connector for the alpine headunits will plug into the back where input for a cd player or cd changer is.
im wondering if i can get a oem head unit to controll an alpine cd changer with mp3 playback which use the "ai net" cable using one of these adapters: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-K...A130B

That's exactly what I was going to recommend looking for. That should work, and I've always wondering about doing it that way. Maybe you should see if you can get those peices locally (like at BB or something) so if it doens't work out you can just drive over and return it.

i have a panasonic deck thats about two years old. i took it out b/c i wanted to add my mp3 player to it, but it didnt work. heres what i have concluded. Panasonic makes the older(and maybe newer) headunits. The ones that have a cd changer control are used with alpine b/c that is what the dealers sold. So the apline M-bus plugs directly into the honda one. I havent tried it yet, but you could buy and mp3 player for the price of a cd changer and hook it up through there. The cable i have is the M-Bus adapter to rca Plug. It would not work with my aftermarket deck, but it is supposed to work with oem decks. I will let it go for 25 buck because that is what i have in it, i will post pics up later

you can use the Alpine MP3 changer with honda decks that were made by alpine. There is a switch inside the cover that changes it to M-bus style controls. I wrote a tutorial on nsxprime that should help http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/Alpine-S634.pdf

here are the photos:

they make other cables for different cars and years, but you have too look around. Pull out your deck and see if it will work. Buying an Mp3 and not having to worry about burning cds is ohh so nice
