I work there bro, and believe me, the expression "you get what you pay for" applies to whole store. If you're gonna get anything decent from CC, go with Polks.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Screw that. All polk == **** for highs. All Infinity == great highs, but lacks mids and such. the BEST setup from CC you can do is a mix of Polk + Infinity's. I'd have to say the same for car audio. Granted I love highs so it's all infinity in my car, but for the most balanced sound you'd want to go half polk half infinity.

well theres quite a difference in price from the modles that i have and the modles that he has.
i'll give the prices in canadian currency cause thats what i know.
DM 604 S3 = $2000pr. (what i want to buy soon...probably within the month)
LCR 600 = $750ea (my center channel)
VM1 = $600pr. (plus 400 for the stands
)
The sub i'm still undecided on. but it'll be either $1000 or $1500.
The nautilus line on the other hand ranges from $5200 for bookshelf speakers to $30000 for floorstanders.
though i'm only 20 i have listened to quite a number of high end speakers and given an unlimited budget i would still pick the B&W Nautilus 801's which weigh in at a somewhat reasonable (in comparison to others in the same league) $16000.
I have had the chance to hear some Wilson grand slams (85000/pr. if i'm not mistaken), and martin logan statement E2's ($80000/pr US) but theres still a certain character that i find in the B&W speakers that i like.
so to answer your original question i'm a 1st year air conditioning apprentice
I spend most of my money (that i dont save) on my stereo which is why i still drive a bone stock civic SI.

Cool, that is not too bad, when I compare it to the cost of car audio stuff that has potential to be stolen. Is that last pic a speaker or a statue. Kinda looks like a coat rack
i'm rockin a cheesy $70 sub + 2 speaker system. used to have an old 70's receiver with an 8-track RECORDER in it and two 15's but that was donated to a poor as **** friend of mine. hard to own anything nice with an older sister living right under your floor and a dad that still listens to his jimmy buffet and billy joel vinyls
I work for the Federal Government as an IT Specialist. I'm also married so having that second income helps
I have the bookshelf models (Nautilus 805) for the mains, HTM2 for center and CW650s inwall for the rears. For the amount of power I have and the size of my room, they perform really well. The system won't blow you away with dynamics and volume but soundstage width and depth is good as well as the imaging. The tonal balance is also fairly flat but I wish I had a little more midbass punch. As fas as upgrades go, I'm not sure if I'll change anything with the setup since we have plans to build a dedicated theater/media room. I'd like to use something like Nautilus 802s or the Martin Logan Prodigy. Amplification would come from Bryston or Mark Levinson. Processing would be Lexicon, Theta, Meridian or Proceed (now integrated with Mark Levinson). Sub would still be Velodyne.

sounds like a very nice setup. i've had the change to listen to the martin logan prodigy and they are quite good but i'd still pick the B&W's for a dedicated theater. for a music room where you would have guests over to entertain them i'd go with the martin logans for their sheer beauty.
have you had a chance to take a look at the mark levinson number 40 media console yet?? its quite an impressive piece but at $50000 cdn for a preamp it better be.
what are you plans for video? big screen TV? ceiling mount projector? plasma? If you with a projector runco is the way to go in my opinion. i really like the processing unit that comes with them.

I currently use an older 53" rear projection. Once our cable provider starts broadcasting HD signals, I'll upgrade to a HDTV unit. For the theater room, I haven't given much thought to the video side of things. I imagine we'll have some sort of front projection system. As of late, I've only seen units from Sony, Runco and Sharp. To be honest, I'm more of an audiophile than a videophile. As long as the picture quality is decent, I'll be happy.
I think the Mark Levinson #40 is overpriced for what it offers. I think you can get similar levels of performance and functionality from the Theta Casablanca or even the Casanova at a cheaper price. Meridian also makes some nice stuff that cost half as much. I'd rather put that kind of money toward speakers.
