If you are talking about the Goliath XX 1612 DVC 2 ohm 1600W "RMS" sub, then with 2 of them you will need an amp the makes 3200W-3500W RMS into 4 ohms you are going to need well in excess of 250A-350A of current to drive them properly, [depending on type of amp used]. 94

Its a allright sub, Was not to impressed with it. I would look towards jl,mtx, kicker if your trying to pound. Plus what you are trying to do requires alot of work and dough. And it starts with your car electrical would not run what your trying to get in your post. It would play but you would get thumped on by a well set up system of lesser power.

Ive never used their subs... however hifonics is farily well known for putting out some solid amps at a good price. As far as whether one or two 12's.. i used to have two entry level mtx 12's when in my old celica being pushed by about 300rms a piece. I loved having subs but IMO it was a little overkill. I listen mainly to rap/hip-hop and those things put out more bass then i ever needed... i usually had the bass boost off and regular bass settings at like -3. I wouldnt say im a huge "bass head" though. If ur looking for something that pounds then id say get 2 12's. If it were me, id just get one solid 12 and a solid amp to push it. ... .... ie a 12inch alpine type r and a directed class d amp off ikesound or something like that

i dont have expierence with their subs, but i did have a hfionics colossus (the last model that had an AB class power supply) and as wrx-killer-Sti eater stated you would get thumped out by a properly setup system of lower power, the reason being in order to get the large RMS numbers out of these large amps you need TONS of current, way more than your stock alternator can put out, and probably more than a HO alternator can supply, than you need more batteries, capacitors....the list goes on, its gets really damn expensive. basically if your looking at two of those subs you shoul be looking at something around;

2 hifonics 12 in subs @250=594 after shipping (2400WRMS) http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HIFONI...wItem

1 colossus amp 3200wRMS $725 shipped http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-X...wItem

wiring- $100-$200
capicotrs- $150
extra battery (yellow top) $150

Your looking at close to two grand. It will hit like mad, shake your car to ****, make you deaf. and it will most likely break the bank.

alos, you cannot throw a couple of cheap amps on these and expect them to hit. doesnt work that way.

Best of luck tho

thanks for the replys guys, But say im on a budget, with about 500-600 to spend.
i want hard pounding bass, but just a simple set up. not one that requires a new altenator. Let me know what kind of setups you have in your cars. i seen some cheap setups before when the person turns the volume up so loud you can hear the cone rattle. Distortion as you might say. even with their gain turned all the way down. but like i said, i want a good quality system with not to many hassel and or obsticles to get it. for the record this systems going into a Lincoln.

since in your first post you wanted to get two subs that would have cost you about that much. so is this your budget for the subs only? or is this total system cost.

i have a 12" alpine type X and an MA audio hk-1397 or hk-1398 (dont remember) '1600' watts RMS (thats what the manual and all the sites say, but im not sure i believe it) its a nice full sounding setup, it hits nice and low, and hits very hard.

I love my sub and you can pick them up on ebay for about 200.

My setup would fit in your total budget depending on where you buy your stuff.

ok... 500-600 to spend... im assuming this is for both 12's an amp, wiring, and a box...

these subs http://www.woofersetc.com/inde...=3415

this amp http://cgi.ebay.com/CADENCE-Z5...wItem

wiring kit http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1064

... most would say to get a ported box custom built ...+/- $150... by shop or find a local guy,,, ,,,. you can save a some money by getting a sealed box but ported would give more overall output.... either way just make sure its made out of 3-4' mdf and u should be fine

This would be a solid setup and would be withing ur price range. Im not saying this is the best possible solution but rather it at least gives you an idea of what you can get for your money. MB Quart / cadence/ are both well known in the caraudio scene. The wiring is by lightning audio which is the same as rockford fosgate. So you can get some solid gear for your money for sure

here are a few amps to also look at if looking at those subs ^^^^

http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-B...wItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HIFONI...wItem

the second amp will power the subs to the full RMS power.

IMO get a nice ported box. its a little more $$$ unless you can build it yourself (i dont recomend unless you know what your doing, and not the easiest thing to learn on)
