Default HID lighting

I am not sure if this would be the appropriate forum for this. If not feel free to delete it Teken.

Has anyone installed this kit http://www.rsversion.com/details.asp?ProdID=838
I am looking for some info on it. I would like to modify it to fit my NSX. I know of other kits my question are for this kit.

Anyone know who's ballasts and ignitors they are using? There's not much description to the kit. Here's what I gathered.

Good:

- Separate ballast and ignitor

- They use relays

Bad:

- No sealing for NSX (very bad)

- proprietary bulb interface (you can only buy parts from them, so when they are on infinite backorder, go out of production or go out of business, you are out of luck, and you can't interchange these parts/bulbs with OEM spec

components.

- severed and rejoined high voltage wire

- unsealed connectors

if i were you, i wouldnt waste my money on a 6000K kit.. go for something 4300K..

6000K's dont look OEM, especially on projectors.. they lose all their intensity..

For that price, add in 20 bucks and you have yourself a full Philips kit (4300K).

I have one on my integra, and if you are running 9005/9006 bulb, these are perfect.

For $400 shipped, I got:
2 Philips Ballasts
2 Philips D2S Bulbs

All you do is unplug your current bulb, plug in the ballast, and your ready to go. About as plug and play as they come.

Trevor Tan is the guy to talk to if you want the philips kit: trevor_tan@visualdynamics.ca Great guy with A++++ Service
Here is his Group Buy Thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=205083

here are mine:

HID's and High Beams, you can see how much whiter the HID light it.

Just an FYI>> there are TWO different types of HID bulbs.. i believe it's the R series and the S series.. one ment for Projection assemblys and the other not. You DO NOT want to mix the two as it adversly affects the lighting. I forget where I read about all of this, but it was a very good source. Just wanted to give you all a heads up

I read all about this before purchasing my kit.
This is the reason I purchased my kit, 2 Philips D2S Bulbs.

To clarify R are for bulbs with a reflector housing. The S are for projectors.

The R can go in a projector but you will have less light output because of the shield. The S in a reflector houseing will have absolutely no light control and make you popular with everyone

Thanks for the info guys?
Are you happy with your kit?
Are you able to buy anyone's HID bulbs or are you stuck going back to the supplier of the kit?
The kit you have photo's of look like the igniter is in the ballast. I have heard these go out somewhat often.

No problem.

Yes, very happy.

I could get them from anyone that sells philips bulbs, but with a guy like Trevor I dont think I'd need to.

Yes they are, I've heard this happened also, but after talking to Trevor, he convinced me I should try these, and to this day, no problems.

Good luck with your HID purchase.

I am happy with it. I can buy other bulbs, but I have the molded connector. Basically there is a foot long or so wire coming off the bulb. It seems the popularity of that connection came and went

My setup is phillips ballasts with osram bulbs.

If I had to do it again I would stick with my original plans of purchasing 4300k bulbs. I got 6000k since they were inexpensive(450) at the time on a groupbuy.

Yea, I puchased my HID's this summer, and the price dropped a lot from what it was before.

Im guessing next year they will be somewhere in the 200-300 range, a lot more affordable.
