Default Help a noob with a Kill Switch?

So I have a standard alarm on my car and a steering wheel lock. I have a '99 EM1 Electron Blue. I bought a kill switch to let me feel a little better. While I do live in the nicer side of town, you never know if some thieves come looking for a prize at a high school...

Any ways. I have the kill switch ready with switch and all. I just supposedly need to find a green/yellow wire. This is connected to the ECU right? On what side is this ECU? On the left under the steering wheel or behind the glovebox on the right? Where do I LOOK for this wire???

---------------
I know, this is super basic...but you can imagine. First car, license for 2.5 months. What else can I do for security that is low budget? If I already have an alarm, can I get a back up battery? They seem cheap, how much would it cost to get it installed? Should I also get a clutch lock? Every time I come on this forum, I get reminded of how often these cars are stolen...

It's on the right side in the passenger's kick panel.

But if you're going to be taking that side of the car apart you should do a main relay kill instead of a fuel kill (lots of good info on this in the archives).

Is this it?? The Brown plug on the upper middle part of the picture? sorry about the image, it seems to be flipped.

Is that where I'll find the green-yellow wire? That's for the fuel pump right?

The main relay is the second picture, and yes, the fuel pump wire is in that bundle - BUT, so is the ground for the main relay which is a more effective wire to interrupt.

What does the ground look like? Would I be doing the same thing if I choose to the ground for the main relay instead of the fuel pump? How do I disconnect the plug to work with the wires better(funny question, but this thing isn't budging).

If you cut the fuel pump output, you're only interrupting the fuel pump, which is a well-known kill and easily defeated by running an extension from the cigarette lighter receptacle directly to the fuel pump under the rear seat.

The EFI relay controls fuel, ignition, and the ECU. If you interrupt the black wire going to the relay, you've defeated all three.

If you take off the passenger kick panel and remove the ECU, you'll have better access to the wire bundle running to the relay, and can interrupt the EFI relay ground there. The splice will also be difficult to see without removing the ECU. If you interrupt the ground or fuel pump wire at the EFI relay, it will be visible if the glove compartment is dropped.

The fuel pump wire also should really not be interrupted without the use of a relay, or a switch designed to handle the current draw of the pump (which would necessitate a larger switch, making the installation less stealthy).

If you really want to get sneaky, you can relocate the whole EFI relay/socket/splice somewhere else.
