first take the cove off the speakers, take out teh old speakers and put the new ones in.. you might need to strip the wires or you can upgrade ur wires, make sure to screw teh speakers in

You have to go into the trunk, get a 10mm socket and you'll have to kinda search around for the screws. Just try it, you'll see how easy it is once you do it...and yes you'll probably have to either replace the whole wire or cut and splice the ends to your new speakers

Re: HELP WITH MY SPEAKERS!! (accordlover)
Let me know how they sound when you get them in. I was thinking about changing mine in my 03 accord. My factories get distorted past half way. Plus I didn't want to clog my trunk up with amps and a box... I just want clean sound with nice in-car bass. NO THUNDER! I've been there and done that.....

Not sure on the coupe, but the back seat of my '99 sedan folds forward, pretty much the entire back of the back seat. If you fold it forward you might be able to get better access, and you can then move between the speaker cover and inside the trunk easily.
Take a look on your back dash, is there a key cylinder (a place to put your key)? If so, put in your key, turn it to the right, and pull forward on the back seat.

Re: (Heat)
I know how to fold down my seats it's just that I need to find the screws that will be holding the back, unless are the screws upsidedown? If i can just go underneath and take them out right?

Re: HELP WITH MY SPEAKERS!! (accordlover)
I was told that aftermarket speakers needs a amp to get good bass. I don't know how true that is but some people say you don't need a amp, I don't have a problem with loudness, I have a problem with distortion after turning the volume up past half. Minus the distortion, I'm happy with the bass at low volume.

Here's a secert that you should know: At best buy you can get these little fuses things and they help block out highs or lows to your speakers and if you install them, you will never blow out your speakers, they take the lows out of your front speakers and highs of your rear or something like that here's a link, you really don't need an amp, you can just wire it from the deck a little cheaper and less headace

Re: HELP WITH MY SPEAKERS!! (accordlover)
Yeah, but I wanted to upgrade to a 3way speaker. I know they can handle the power but I was wondering if the bass will still sound good without a amp. I wanted 3ways to also get the mids I'm missing from the factory speakers. I don't mind spending the money for a good set. I just want it to sound good without putting amps and boxes in the trunk. I'm kinda trying to get the bass effect of a free air woofer. It bangs in the car but don't travel out the car....

Yeah, try out those little caps, they are hella easy to install too, or your willing to pay the $60 install fee, just cut the POSITIVE wire that runs to the speakers and connect the cap and this is the best way I think to make your car sound way better, also there are 2-way speakers that go in the front and the 6x9 are 3-way but i found some genric 10-way sepakers? never hear thabout those, so do what I told you or whatever but this s the best way to hear clear music

Re: HELP WITH MY SPEAKERS!! (accordlover)
kbanks,
If you are looking for mid-bass (or any form a bass at all w/o subs), than you will NOT want to try the bass blockers that accordlover is referring to.
If you plan to upgrade your speakers, you should keep in mind that the factory stereo only produces a minimal amount of watts. Depending on how loud you play your music, it will not be able to produce a clean sound at high volumes. Although new speakers will help tremendously (the stock paper-coned speakers suck), the sound range and power of the stock deck is going to limit how clean it sounds and how much bass and mid-bass the speakers will receive.
The closer you push the deck (or amp) to its power limits, the more distortion you're going to have. And trust me, the factory deck will be close to its power limit.

Yep he said it!
On top of that, the factory wiring going throughout the car is far to thin. If you
decide to run your speakers with more than 50W I would highly recommend you amp the speakers, and definately lose the stock speakers. The stocks peak at 15W in the front and 30W in the rear.
I recently completely re-did my entire sound system, and we have the same car!
99' 2 door coupe, 4cylinder, Honda accord.
If you do want to replace the front and rear speakers I can give you a complete run down with how to do it, step by step. Including where to run the cabling so it's stealthy, and also where to put the AMP so you don't lose any trunk space.
Here's a big tip on installing the speakers! Important!!!
Before you screw in the 6x9s make sure they clear the trunk bars, just rest them in their slots and make sure the trunk opens and closes without scraping. Also for the 6 1/2s in the front, I would recommend you keep the stock speaker holders, there's padding on them to elminate the metal on metal vibration noise. If they don't fit directly in those plastic cups they have, use a dremel and just cut the back part off.
If you have any detailed questions on how to amp your system, install a new deck, or do the wiring, just email me.

Re: HELP WITH MY SPEAKERS!! (icer5160)
Well I have a 03 cpe with the six disk in-dash changer. I'm not sure if the 02 and the 03 are the same, but I will take all the advise I can. I do know the speaker sizes are the same. My radio volume tops out at 40. I generally play mine between 15 and 30. I thought about putting a kenwood or alpine screen in the dash, but the kit that goes in the dash I have doubts about...

check out the reviews, this is why I have doubts
