Default Help with my COMPUSTAR alarm...

I'm having some issues with my alarm. Its at a shop right now and the body shop can't seem to start it. Right now the battery is disconnected.

It seems once they attach the negative, the momment they put the key in the ignition, the alarm goes off. I tried getting into valet mode, but I'm not sure how to do that. I have the paging remote at home.

They may have activated the autostart when they left the car, but I'm not sure.

Please help!!! The front end needs to be painted now and I want my car back ASAP!!!!!! Any ideas...
THanks!!!!!

when you diconnect a battery cable you reset the alarm unless you have a battey back-up. the problem stems from that fact. the alarm will have to be reprogrammed to your liking, hopefully you have some sort of warranty with it.

i dont think that is true about resetting it.. i know w/ dei alarms that if you disconnect the battery while the alarm is sounding as soon as you give it power it will start going off agian

Compustar holds it last settings for a really long time, Just put the key in the ing and turn it on/off a few times untilll you here it kick on, but you might need the pager to let you drive.

try plugging the battery in and arming and disarming the car with the doors closed. If that doesnt work, pull the fuses for the alarm.

VALET MODE is buttons I + III. Just "tap" the buttons together at the same time. If you press and hold, you may have put it into another mode.

Im not sure which generation COMPUSTAR you have, but you should have a MENU on the back of the remote that tells you which buttons to push.

Even then, your shop / installer should have spent the time with you explaining some of the features.

Ive sometimes spent close to an hour AFTER the INSTALL explaining and demostrating to the customer the COMPUSTAR. I take the time to answer any questions they may have and make sure that when they leave the shop, they know how to use the system. DID I GET PAID for that time? NOPE, but it pays off because they wont be coming back or calling because they dont know whats going on or how to use it. Sometimes may even get a TIP!!!

Customer service...........thats what people want.

My shop may not move as many installs out the door within a day as Circuit City or Best Buy.......but I'll bet my life on it that for every 100 that they do, they will get many back for problems whether it be install related or the demo was not complete.

I can honestly say my shop comeback rate is less than 1% for problems or demos, and 100% for repeat customers. If they had a GOOD EXPERIENCE at a place, they will tell their friends to go there also. Its a known fact that people will tell others more of BAD experiences and WARN their friends, than GOOD Experiences.

I suggest you go back to your authorized CompuStar dealer and ask for a complete demostration or if there is a problem with your system they should take care of it for you.

You shouldnt have to post something like this on a webboard to be taken care of as a CompuStar owner. Where did you get it installed?
