help me engine start!
my sister gave me this engine start alarm for my 97 prelude auto. in the papers that came with it, it says 98+ preludes have a transponder. my friend tells me that i need something to bypass it to make the engine start thing work.. can someone explain who what i need to make engine start happen. thank you
The papers and your friend are both correct.
You need an immobilizer bypass module. There are universal units that require a spare key and programmable units that do not require a key. Do a search. It's been discussed before.

Are we missing something here guys, 98+ ludes have transponder keys, [immobilizers] you have a 97 Prelude, your car does not need a bypass module, it does not even need a 2nd ign. starter or acc.... http://www.directwholesale.net...eID=3 it is a very easy car to do an alarm/remote start on.

The way you tell if you've got the transponder is when you start your car or turn it off, is there a little green key flashing in your cluster somewhere? If so, you've got it. No green key, no transponder.
