I say go with an Eclipse CD5444 or if you have the money the CD8545. If you are just looking for a really awesome looking headunit I'd say go with the JVC, but my opinion is go with the Eclipse.

I have both a JVC Aresonal and an Alpine Headunit I bought both about 1 year ago maybe a month or two more but not much more. I like the JVC Aresonal a lot better. It is rated at a lower wattage but actually seems to have more power if your running both with internal amps as it sounds a lot cleaner and goes louder. I say get the JVC as I like both it and my Alpine but like the JVC a lot better. I chose between a Pioneer and Alpine when I bought the Alpine and found I like the Alpine better than the Pioneer I was looking at though although Pioneer also has some nice head units.

Out of those two:

Pioneer 860mp Premier version (it has the 6.5v pre-outs and a 2 year warranty vs. the standard version which has 4v and 1 year).

This unit has excellent tuning features, comparable to Eclipse units. It looks great to boot...if you're into that bling. My best friend has it actually...so I see it every week (almost).

That said: I own an eclipse cd8053. Another friend owns a Pioneer p9 combo. And another the Alpine 9835...still another the bling clarion drz9255. We're all satisfied. You'll be happy with that unit.

lol, gg

honestly, i'd choose the JVC KD-AR5000 out of them....that's my current deck (and YES, i've been through ///Alpines and Pioneer....the "name brand" doesnt really sell me though) and it BLEW MY MIND. I've already owned a couple of mosfet 50x4 from pioneer and an alpine 9830, and the sound quality on those decks are nice, but nothing compared to the ar5000.

i'm not too big on external 4 channel amplifiers, so i run the main mids and highs on the deck, it really sounds great, the SQ of my system impresses even my "audiophile" friends who love to hate my jvc...

anyways, this isnt a love story, just my impression on their awesome deck with great ammenities too (for a cheap price)

KD-AR7000

vs.

DEH-P8600MP

vs.

KD-AR5000 (my option, you'll save $100 and still have an awesome reciever)

IMO the DEH-P8600MP is really not worth it if your just buying for the graphics cause its so pixelated like crazy. If you want to get a pioneer your better off buying the DEH-P7600MP and it look better too

I chose the JVC, From what SpoonFedHatch said, and also I did some more reserching and the Pioneer, doesn't have 6.5 volt it has 4.5 according to there website.

The pioneer premier 860mp has 6.5v preouts. There is a difference between 8600mp and 860mp premier, although the difference isn't huge.

There is a reason I specified the 860mp premier version...

I recommended the pioneer because it has much better tuning capability...but that prob. isn't important to you anyway.

That said...the JVC isn't bad or anything, I'm guessing that it won't matter for your needs.

made a wise decision, you'll enjoy the 5v preouts, besides, the amp should be the workhorse of the system anyways...

i bet you saved over $100 for a very nice stereo comparable to that of pioneer, alpine, elcipse, etc. with a very attractive display

good luck with it, and post a writeup soon
