Default help hooking up head unit

hey i just got a 91 civic hatch and i'm trying to put my head unit in it. I took the other sucky radio out and put mine in but the plug on the back isn't the same. the plug that is on the car is a one-row white plug, where i need it to plug into the cd player that has a two-row black plug. what do i do?

Well use process of elimination to get rid of the easy stuff. 1) Did you get on e of those OEM to Aftermarket HU adapters?? 2)if you DID get one, is it for the right year make and model. They usually have a range. Like when I put the radio i my 240sx, it ranged....89-94 Nissan All

Best Buy... $16.99. You take that harness, and match up the colored wires to the colored wires coming off the deck, then use crimp caps or something to connect them, then plug the little black plug into your deck, then the white plug into the harness in the car. Then, turn your key and press the power button on the deck. You should hear some beautiful music...

I already checked and they didnt have any. I use searches liek setero harness adapter, etc. Actually i take that back. This guy had a lot of 5 harnesses for all types of different cars and the 91 civic was covered. But you had to buy all 5. Kind of a waste since some of the cars were extremely old.

They sell them at BestBuy like someone already said... even at pepboys, Strauss Auto... and a bunch of other auto parts stores. Only $10-$18.

by the sound of it someone else had already put a radio in there, maybe an older pioneer, and that's what the single row harness is for... the old radio. You'll have to unplugged that from the car first, or if it's wired directly into the car, you'll have to wire the plug for the radio you're trying to put in directly into the car also. If that's that case, let me know and I can get you the wiring color info.

If that is the case it really shouldn't be that tough. Alot of all Radio Manufacturers use the same kinda color codes.

Red - 12V Switched
Yellow 12 Volt Constant
Black Ground
White -- Front Left
Gray - Front Right
Purple - Rear Right
Green - Rear Left

Looks for those colors on the harness that is in the car. When you cut off that end then just color match it with those colors above.

No this color code is for typically any aftermarket radio.

Here is what I found. Don't quote me on this:

12V Constant - Blu/Wht
12V Switch - Yel/Rd
Ground - Black
Front Left + - Blu/Grn
Front Left - - Gray/Black
Front Right + Red/Grn
Front Right - Brn/Blk

Rear Left + Blu/Yel
Rear Left - Gry/Wht
Rear Right + Red/Yel
Rear Right - Brn/Wht

the only thing is, by the sounds of it... it seems like it might be an older pioneer harness. They did not follow the now standard color code on the older single row plugs.
