i'm trying to figure how to hook up my amp to my stock cd player. what wire can i connect to the remote wire on the amp to turn it on?
is there a power antennae wire in the plug for my '99 model?
if i have to hook up a stupid toggle switch to the remote to turn it on...would putting a fuse inline be stupid if the amp already has a fuse?

You'll have to find an accessory or ignition wire depending on where you're looking. Behind the radio find the ign, don't remember the color but if you do a search i'm sure someone has already posted it. Don't hook it up to the power antenna, the amp will only come on with the radio. And there is no need to put a toggle switch unless you want the ability to turn the amp off and still leave the radio on.
Always, always, always put an inline fuse on the power wire (within 18 inches of the battery)!!!

on newer model civics...
there are accessory terminals on the fuse block that can be used as a remote to turn on your amp when your key is in the "ON" position.
sorry i dont have any pics, but any small female crimp connector will fit.

alright well here's the deal...last night i spent waay too long wiring this thing up, and it didn't work. the amp wouldn't turn on. here's what i did:
-power to battery with fuse 12 away from batt.
-grounded in between two washers(!!!), screwed into the body under the center console.
-for remote i used a switch, connected ACC. to the remote terminal, and tapped into the power and ground from my tach, so i know the switch works.
-cut the four speaker wires under the dash, connected "radio plug" side to the high level inputs on amp. then connected the "car" side speaker wires to the speaker terminals on the amp.
WHY WON'T THE DAMN THING WORK!!! could it be the ground, can it be grounded inbetween two washers, or are they not "metal" enough? i couldn't find a hole in the body without making the ground too long. i'm going to try drilling a NEW hole in the floor, and grounding to that.
also, you know how there's the two power wires (white/green, white/blue i believe). isn't one for constant memory power, then the other for turn-on power? well anyways, can i tap into the turn-on power wire for the remote? i really don't want that stupid switch, PIA and fugly.
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME, i really want this thing to work!!! does anybody see anything wrong that i did??? what could cause the amp not too turn on, i think it's powered ok, but no turn on....
TIA

First off, check your amp. take that 12v wire you have, and take a small peice of wire, short circuit the 12v and the remote contacts. The amp should turn on (assuming your 12v wire is giving 12v!). If it doesn't, play with your ground as outlined below and try again. Once that works, fix your remote wire and you'll be fine.
After Testing/General Info/fix that install!

Alright here we go ...
First. You said you had a power run to the battery and fused within 12" thats perfect.
Second. You said you grounded near your center console? You want your ground to be As SHORT as possible using the exact same size wire (or bigger) as your power wire. A good place to ground would be near the rear seats, there should prob be a good bolt there. To check the ground, get a meter, set it on continuity checking, and touch a good ground (trunk latch area) and the ground your going to use, if you get 0 resistance or a beep, its a good ground.
Sand the metal in the area you want to ground to ensure your going to make a great connection, and ground your amp.
As far as your remote wire: you want the yellow/red wire on the harness, it should be switched 12v (check it with the meter, turn to DC, touch one lead to ground, one lead to the yellow/red, you should see 0 with the key off, and 12 with key on)
Run that wire to the back and your done.
Heres some more wiring codes if you need them:

Constant 12V+ Blue/White
Switched 12V+ Yellow/Red
Ground Black

Right Rear (+) Red/Yellow
Right Rear (-) Brown/White

alright well i got the amp hooked up and working
BUT when hooked up to the yellow/red wire, the amp is always on whenever the ign. is on versus only on when the stereo is on.
is this bad, will it overheat the amp? it's only a measly 60x2...

try hooking up your remote wire to red/silver wire. it's for the power ant, you might need a relay, but lets see what happens first.
