Default help! front speakers not working.

ok, two days after me and my g/f's dad hooked up her system, her front speakers just quit working. she has a 1997 toyota 4runner limited. it has component speakers in the front. i pulled out the factory deck tonight out of the dash to see if any wires pulled out of the harness.everything was ok in the dash. lets say that the speakers blew, the highs would still work wouldn't they? the only thing i could think of doing is pulling off the door panel, and running a wire from the back speakers to the front. (when the system was installed, we tapped into the rear speakers, and ran a wire to the high level input on the amp) so i will just run off those wires. if that doesn't work then just hook up a speaker wire in the front doors that are running to the speakers. obtw all the door speakers are factory. and if that doesn't work then hook a multimeter to the speaker wires coming right off the headunit, and if that didn't work then its the deck right? please tell me if i'm on the right track.

Test the speakers into another car to see if it is the problem from the speakers. If the speakers do work. Your wiring is burnt or wrong.
If your factory wire are burnt. My advice is to just run an amp to the speakers.

And if the speakers blew u would hear aleast some smashed, distorted sound.

It's probably not your speakers...
Its your factory headunit the channels must of blew out.
-Samething happened to me. But, it was my 6x9 speakers

*Solution - One way, you can bring it back to Toyota shop if it still has warranty. Most likely not anymore
- Option that i did. I replaced it with a new headunit.
**Remember if you are gonna bring it back to the Toyota shop to get a new headunit its probably going to cost you a arm and a leg to get a factory headunit. Just get a aftermarket one if you are going to.

see the thing is, i never did anything to the front wires except tap into them, then i pulled the little plastic tap thing off and put some electrical tape over the little exposed part of the wire. but i did that to the back speakers and they work fine. the car isn't under warranty.i will try that stuff on monday, if it ends up being the headunit i will just buy an aftermarket one. i figured the speakers still would make some sort of sound, so somehow something isn't getting any signal, the car has a facotry amp. could the channel on it be blown?

Well if your front component speakers is not making any sound at all its not the wiring or the speakers.
-Most likely its your headunit or it can be your amp...Try unconnecting the output wires for the speakers to the amp and wire it back to the car without the amp and see if it works...
-If it does than its your amp, if it doesn;t most likely its your headunit.

you can try to pop the speakers behind the deck with a 9-12v battery, if taking the door panel is a hassle. just put the batteries + & - post to the speakerwires + & - ends behind the deck, if it you hear a pop your wires and speaker is good. did you run you component to a crossover? if not you might have dropped the ohms too low and blew out the output on the deck.

well the components are factory components. i'm begginning to think more and more it is the deck. because if you put the fader to the front speakers on deck, you get nothing. i don't see how the woofer and tweeter would blow at the same time, so i doubt its the speakers.

I was sure it was not the speaker/wires at first...
-It is the factory headunit i'm like 90% sure...b/c the channels must of gone out for the front component speakers
